  1. 21. Surgical complications after vaginal and caesarean delivery

    Författare :Charlotta Larsson; Pär Nordin; Ewa Lundgren; Katarina Tunón; Peter Mathiessen; Umeå universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Surgical complications; cardiovascular complications; anal incontinence; anal sphincter injuries; caesarean section; vaginal delivery; three-dimensional endoanal ultrasound; Surgery; kirurgi;

    Sammanfattning : Background: Obstetric anal sphincter injuries (OASIS) after vaginal delivery are the most common cause of anal incontinence in women. Symptoms range from faecal urgency and soiling to inability to control flatus and passive faecal incontinence. OASIS are also associated with urinary incontinence, perineal pain, and sexual dysfunction. LÄS MER

  2. 22. Biomolecular Aspects of Flexor Tendon Healing

    Författare :Maria Berglund; Monica Wiig; Olof Nilsson; Jan Fridén; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Flexor tendon healing; Growth factor; Metalloproteinase; Collagen; Proteoglycan; Myofibroblast; Hyaluronan synthase; Mast cell; Hand surgery; Handkirurgi; Orthopaedics; Ortopedi;

    Sammanfattning : Flexor tendon injuries in zone II of the hand (i.e. between the distal volar crease and the distal interphalangeal joint) can be costly for both the afflicted individual and society because of the high cost of a long rehabilitation period, complicated by tendon ruptures or scarring with adhesion formation, causing impaired range of motion. 3. 23. Oesophageal Resection with Gastric Tube Reconstruction - A clinical study of a surgical method and its consequences on the upper gastrointestinal tract and survival

    Författare :Jan Johansson; Lund Kirurgi; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Surgery; Barrett s oesophagus; Survival; Age; Follow-up studies; Physiological studies; Anastomoses; Oesophagectomy; Oesophageal neoplasms; traumatologi; Kirurgi; ortopedi; traumatology; orthopaedics;

    Sammanfattning : In a prospective randomised study following oesophagectomy and gastric tube reconstruction patients with hand-sutured neck anastomoses were compared with patients with circular stapled chest anastomoses. The two groups had equal rates of anastomotic or conduit leaks of 7.3 % (3/41) and 7.1 % (3/42) and of benign anastomotic strictures of 19. LÄS MER

  4. 24. Low-dose computed tomography of the abdomen and lumbar spine

    Författare :Muhammed Alshamari; Håkan Geijer; Seppo Koskinen; Örebro universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Tomography; X-Ray Computed; Radiography; Radiation Dosage; Abdomen; Spine; Lumbosacral Region; Regression Analysis; Kirurgi; Surgery;

    Sammanfattning : Radiography is a common radiologic investigation despite abundant evidence of its limited diagnostic value. On the other hand, computed tomography (CT) has a high diagnostic value and is widely considered to be among the most important advances in medicine. LÄS MER

  5. 25. Role of adhesion molecules and chemokines in TNF-alpha-induced leukocyte recruitment

    Författare :Xiao Wei Zhang; Kirurgi; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Surgery; intravital microscopy; microcirculation; inflammation; adhesion; leukocyte; orthopaedics; traumatology; Kirurgi; ortopedi; traumatologi;

    Sammanfattning : Migration of leukocytes from the circulating blood into the extravascular tissue is a key component in inflammatory reactions. Leukocyte extravasation (rolling-activation-adhesion-transmigration) is strictly coordinated by adhesion molecules and chemokines expressed on cell surfaces and in tissues. LÄS MER
