6. Construction of Adaptive Multistep Methods for Problems with Discontinuities, Invariants, and Constraints
Sammanfattning : Adaptive multistep methods have been widely used to solve initial value problems. These ordinary differential equations (ODEs) may arise from semi-discretization of time-dependent partial differential equations(PDEs) or may combine with some algebraic equations to represent a differential algebraic equations (DAEs). 7. Desire Lines : Towards a Queer Digital Media Phenomenology
Sammanfattning : This dissertation explores ways in which “queer digital media use” co-produces senses of space, time, and queer being in contemporary Russia. Considering the particular implications of (in)visibility for queer living, and the importance of compartmentalizing conflicting spheres, the study provides a grounded account of queer life lived with and through digital media in a context currently characterized by “anti-gay” sentiments. 8. Muntlighet och minne : Sagatraditionen, kulturhistorien och det kulturella minnets blinda fläck
Sammanfattning : This dissertation focuses on two distinct areas of study that do not have a predetermined or necessary connection to each other. The first area concerns issues of more immediate relevance to the cultural history of the Icelandic sagas, whereas the second area concerns issues of more general relevance to cultural memory research (Cultural Memory Studies, Kulturelles Gedächtnis) and what the author perceives as a deficiency or “blind spot” in this theory. 10. On the Modelling of Fracture Using Strong Discontinuities
Sammanfattning : The major concern of this work is the constitutive and numerical modelling of fracture, based on strong discontinuity formulations. More particularly, an extended finiteelement approach is used, where the total displacement is separated in two mutuallyindependent fields, representing the continuous and discontinuous displacement respectively.
