1. Triangulating Perspectives on Lexical Replacement : From Predictive Statistical Models to Descriptive Color Linguistics
Sammanfattning : The aim of this thesis is to investigate lexical replacement processes from several complementary perspectives. It does so through three studies, each with a different scope and time depth. LÄS MER
2. Numerical computations of wind turbine wakes
Sammanfattning : Numerical simulations of the Navier-Stokes equations are performed to achieve a better understanding of the behaviour of wakes generated by wind turbines. The simulations are performed by combining the in-house developed computer code EllipSys3D with the actuator line and disc methodologies. LÄS MER
4. Simulated and observed change of precipitation and temperature in Europe with focus on the Greater Baltic Area
Sammanfattning : The regional climate of the Greater Baltic Area is complex and varies at a multitude of scales in space and time. This thesis contributes to increased understanding of climate change and climate variability in this area focusing on four significant research topics. Droughts have a considerable ecological and socio-economic impact. LÄS MER
5. Theoretical Description of Electronic Transitions in Large Molecular Systems in the Optical and X-Ray Regions
Sammanfattning : The size and conformational complexity of proteins and other large systems represent major challenges for today's methods of quantum chemistry. This thesis is centered around the development of new computational tools to gain molecular-level insight into electronic transitions in such systems.
