    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; cardiovascular drift; cardiac fatigue; adventure race; cardiac biomarkers; cardoac function; exercise echocardiography; Physiology; Fysiologi; Cardiology; Kardiologi; Sports; Idrott; Medicin Teknik; Medicine Technology;

    Sammanfattning : The overall aims of this thesis were to elucidate the circulatory responses to ultra-endurance exercise (Adventure Racing), and furthermore, to contribute to the clarification of the so called “exercise-induced cardiac fatigue” in relation to said exercise. An Adventure race (AR) varies in duration from six hours to over six days, in which the participants have to navigate through a number of check-points over a pre-set course, using a combination of three or more endurance/outdoor sports, e. 2. 7. S100B and Cardiac Surgery

    Författare :Henrik Bjursten; Thoraxkirurgi; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; S100-B; S100B; S100beta; brain damage; cardiac surgery; CABG; renal function; autotransfusion; Cardiovascular system; serum marker; Kardiovaskulära systemet;

    Sammanfattning : The brain-derived protein S100B is a 21 Kda dimerand have been used as a serum marker for brain damage of different etiology. The feasability of protein S100B as serum marker for brain damage after cardiac surgery was studied in this thesis. One unexpected finding was made, which changed the basis for interpration of S100B levels. LÄS MER

    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; clinical physiology; reference materials; ECG; dynamic spirometry; HRV; rheumatoid arthritis; cardiovascular disease; ischemic heart disease; Clinical Physiology; klinisk fysiologi;

    Sammanfattning : The human heart and lungs constitute an intricate and dynamic system. Various clinical physiological examinations can be used to evaluate cardio-pulmonary function and identify abnormalities. Thus, it is important to understand how normal physiology presents, to be able to identify pathological findings. LÄS MER

  4. 9. Physical Activity and Cardiovascular Disease

    Författare :Kasper Andersen; Johan Sundström; Claes Held; Frieder Braunschweig; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Physical activity; epidemiology; cohort study; heart failure; cardiovascular disease; arrhythmias; atrial fibrillation; bradyarrhythmias; sudden cardiac death; heart failure; stroke; ischemic heart disease; cardiovascular death; maximal exercise capacity; muscle strength; skeletal muscle morphology; Kardiologi; Cardiology; Epidemiology; Epidemiologi;

    Sammanfattning : The aim was to investigate associations of fitness and types and levels of physical activity with subsequent risk of cardiovascular disease.Four large-scale longitudinal cohort studies were used. The exposures were different measures related to physical activity and the outcomes were obtained through linkage to the Swedish In-Patient Register. LÄS MER

  5. 10. Cardiovascular disease and all-cause mortality : influence of fitness, fatness and genetic factors

    Författare :Gabriel Högström; Anna Nordström; Peter Nordström; Johan Sundström; Umeå universitet; []

    Sammanfattning : BackgroundLow aerobic fitness and obesity are associated with atherosclerosis, and thereforegreatly increase the risk of cardiovascular disease (CVD) and early death. It has long been known that atherosclerosis my begin early in life. LÄS MER
