  1. 1. S100B and Cardiac Surgery

    Detta är en avhandling från Department of Cardiothoracic Surgery, Clinical Sciences, Lund University

    Författare :Henrik Bjursten; Lund University.; Lunds universitet.; [2001]
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; S100-B; S100B; S100beta; brain damage; cardiac surgery; CABG; renal function; autotransfusion; Cardiovascular system; serum marker; Kardiovaskulära systemet;

    Sammanfattning : The brain-derived protein S100B is a 21 Kda dimerand have been used as a serum marker for brain damage of different etiology. The feasability of protein S100B as serum marker for brain damage after cardiac surgery was studied in this thesis. One unexpected finding was made, which changed the basis for interpration of S100B levels. LÄS MER

  2. 2. Waiting For Heart Surgery

    Detta är en avhandling från Department of Cardiothoracic Surgery, Clinical Sciences, Lund University

    Författare :Bodil Ivarsson; Lund University.; Lunds universitet.; [2005]
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; orthopaedics; Surgery; Kardiovaskulära systemet; Cardiovascular system; waiting-time; support; postponement; patient; next of kin; information; experience; complications; cancellation; cardiac surgery; ortopedi; traumatologi; Kirurgi; traumatology;

    Sammanfattning : Patients waiting for cardiac surgery often consider the period from the decision for surgery to the time for the operation as long, heavy and dreary. Therefore, it is important that patients are supplied with structured oral and written information regarding their disease and its treatment, so that they are able to understand and discuss the forthcoming operation, the risk of complications and the possibility that surgery may be delayed. 3. 3. Risk stratification in cardiac surgery: Algorithms and applications

    Detta är en avhandling från Department of Clinical Sciences, Lund University

    Författare :Johan Nilsson; Lund University.; Lunds universitet.; [2005]
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Surgery; orthopaedics; traumatology; Kardiovaskulära systemet; Cardiovascular system; Cardiac surgery; Statistics; Artificial neural networks; Resource utilization; Mortality; Risk factors; Kirurgi; ortopedi; traumatologi;

    Sammanfattning : The aims of this research was to compare different risk score algorithms with regard to their validity to predict 30-day and one-year mortality after open-heart surgery, to evaluate if the preoperative risk stratification model EuroSCORE predicts the different components of resource utilization in cardiac surgery, and to systematically evaluate the accuracy and performance of artificial neural networks (ANNs) to select and rank the most important risk factors for operative mortality in open-heart surgery. Preoperative evaluation of the surgical risk is an important component in cardiac surgery. LÄS MER

  4. 4. Atrial fibrillation in cardiac surgery

    Detta är en avhandling från Örebro : Örebro universitet

    Författare :Anders Ahlsson; Giovanni Mariscalco; Örebro universitet.; Umeå universitet.; [2008]
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; MEDICINE Surgery Surgical research Thoracic surgery; MEDICIN Kirurgi Kirurgisk forskning Thoraxkirurgi; Kirurgi; särskilt thoraxkirurgi; Surgery esp. Thoracic and Cardivascular Surgery; Atrial fibrillation; Inflammation; CABG surgery; Survival analysis; Follow-up studies; Ablation; Microwave; Transmurality; Atrial function; Tissue velocity echocardiography; MEDICINE Surgery; MEDICIN Kirurgi; atrial fibrillation; adult; cardiac surgery; coronary artery bypass grafting; valvular surgery; cardiopulmonary bypass; mortalilty; histology; catecholamines; embolism;

    Sammanfattning : Atrial fibrillation (AF) is the most common arrhythmia seen in clinical practice. In cardiac surgery, one-third of the patients experience episodes of AF during the first postoperative days (postoperative AF), and patients with preoperative AF (concomitant AF) can be offered ablation procedures in conjunction with surgery, in order to restore ordinary sinus rhythm (SR). 5. 5. Vacuum-assisted closure in cardiac surgery - clinical outcome and vascular effects

    Detta är en avhandling från Department of Cardiothoracic Surgery, Clinical Sciences, Lund University

    Författare :Johan Sjögren; Lund University.; Lunds universitet.; [2005]
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; orthopaedics; Surgery; Kardiovaskulära systemet; Cardiovascular system; Infektioner; Infections; endothelium; vascular; central hemodynamics; risk factors; long-term survival; mortality; wound closure; cardiac surgery; vacuum-assisted closure; poststernotomy mediastinitis; traumatology; Kirurgi; ortopedi; traumatologi;

    Sammanfattning : The aim of this research was to clinically and experimentally evaluate the use of vacuum-assisted closure in poststernotomy mediastinitis after cardiac surgery. Vacuum-assisted closure (VAC) is a new wound-healing therapy based on the application of a local negative pressure to the wound. LÄS MER
