  1. 1. Orexin Receptors in Recombinant CHO Cells : Signaling to Short- and Long-Term Cell Responses

    Författare :Sylwia Ammoun; Jyrki Kukkonen; Karl Åkerman; Gunnar Flemström; Christer Larsson; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Neurosciences; orexins; cell signaling; Neurovetenskap; Neurology; Neurologi;

    Sammanfattning : Recently discovered neuropeptides orexins (orexin-A and -B) act as endogenous ligands for G-protein-coupled receptors called OX1 and OX2 receptors. Our previous studies have established model systems for investigation of the pharmacology and signaling of these receptors in recombinant CHO cells. LÄS MER

  2. 2. On the Regulation of Ornithine Decarboxylase

    Författare :Eva Lövkvist Wallström; Institutionen för experimentell medicinsk vetenskap; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Fysiologi; Physiology; Crithidia fasciculata.; polyamines; Ornithine decarboxylase; translational control; osmolarity; untranslated region; COS cells; CHO cells; transfection; protein turnover; PEST region;

    Sammanfattning : The polyamines putrescine, spermidine and spermine have been shown to be involved in cell growth and differentiation, and are considered to be crucial components of the living cell. The synthesis of polyamines in the cell is strictly regulated. LÄS MER

  3. 3. Effects of polyamine pool manipulation on genes expressed during the cell cycle

    Författare :Pia Berntsson; Biologiska institutionen; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Animal physiology; cyclin A; ODC; MCF-7; mitotic shake off; DENSPM; CHO; cDNA microarray; cell cycle; spermine; Djurfysiologi; AdoMetDC; 2D gel electrophoresis; polyamines; spermidine; putrescine;

    Sammanfattning : The polyamines - putrescine, spermidine and spermine - are polycations found within cells. They have been shown to be essential for optimal cell proliferation and cell survival. Cells maintain their polyamine levels in a well-regulated system involving biosynthesis, catabolism and uptake/excretion. LÄS MER

  4. 4. Dopamine D2 and D3 receptors. Studies on transduction mechanisms and on the role of a D3 gene polymorphism

    Författare :Monika Hellstrand; Göteborgs universitet; Göteborgs universitet; Gothenburg University; []

    Sammanfattning : The neurotransmitter dopamine has been implicated in the pathophysiology of, e.g., Parkinson s disease and schizophrenia, and dopamine receptor-active compounds are commonly employed therapeutically in these and other disorders. LÄS MER

  5. 5. Replication Fork Stability in Mammalian Cells

    Författare :Ingegerd Elvers; Thomas Helleday; Jan H. J. Hoeijmakers; Stockholms universitet; []
    Nyckelord :replication fork progression; replication fork stability; re-priming; DNA damage signalling; NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; molekylärgenetik; Molecular Genetics;

    Sammanfattning : Maintaining replication fork integrity is vital to preserve genomic stability and avoid cancer. Physical DNA damage and altered nucleotide or protein pools represent replication obstacles, generating replicative stress. Numerous cellular responses have evolved to ensure faithful DNA replication despite such challenges. LÄS MER
