1. Active cellular forces in variable mechanical microenvironments
Sammanfattning : Our bodies are immensely complex structures, with various systems, organs, and processes that are not only biochemically driven, but strongly dependent on physical mechanics. At the heart of all these processes are cells, which must generate forces to adhere, spread, differentiate, grow, and move. LÄS MER
2. Stereotyped B Cell Receptors in Chronic Lymphocytic Leukaemia : Implications for Antigen Selection in Leukemogenesis
Sammanfattning : Biased immunoglobulin heavy variable (IGHV) gene usage and distinctive B-cell receptor (BCR) features have been reported in chronic lymphocytic leukaemia (CLL), which may reflect clonal selection by antigens during disease development. Furthermore, the IGHV gene mutation status distinguishes two clinical entities of CLL, where patients with unmutated IGHV genes have an inferior prognosis compared to those with mutated IGHV genes. 3. Hematopoiesis: Functional Insights by Cell Fate Conversion
Sammanfattning : Blood cell formation, or hematopoiesis, is maintained by rare hematopoietic stem cells (HSCs) residing in the bone marrow (BM). HSCs may self-renew (the process whereby HSCs replicate to produce new HSCs) to preserve their own numbers, as well as initiate a highly coordinated hierarchical differentiation process that results in the production of mature effector blood cells. 4. Molecular Mechanisms in Hematopoietic Stem Cell Aging
Sammanfattning : The blood is composed of many different cell types that through tightly regulated mechanisms are derived from hematopoietic stem cells (HSCs). In addition, HSCs are able to undergo self-renewing divisions whereby new HSCs are produced. LÄS MER
5. Cleavage Specificity of Mast Cell Chymases
Sammanfattning : Mast cells (MC) are potent inflammatory cells that are known primarily for their prominent role in IgE mediated allergies. However, they also provide beneficial functions to the host, e.g. in bacterial and parasitic defence. LÄS MER
