  1. 21. Simulation and assessment of particle transport in fusion plasmas

    Författare :Emil Fransson; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Fusion -- Plasma physics -- Turbulent transport --Gyrofluid --Gyrokinetic;

    Sammanfattning : A civilized society need energy to function. An attractive new energy source is nuclear fusion with its abundance of fuel, intrinsic safety and limited environmental impact. Although the concept of fusion for energy has been well understood for over a century, to create it here on earth has been more irksome. LÄS MER

  2. 22. 3D Magnetic Nulls and Regions of Strong Current in the Earth's Magnetosphere

    Författare :Elin Eriksson; Andris Vaivads; Hans Nilsson; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Magnetic Nulls; Particle Acceleration; Current sheets; Magnetic reconnection; Magnetosphere; Fysik med inriktning mot rymd- och plasmafysik; Physics with specialization in Space and Plasma Physics;

    Sammanfattning : Plasma, a gas of charged particles exhibiting collective behaviour, can be found everywhere in our vast Universe. The characteristics of plasma in very distant parts of the Universe can be similar to characteristics in our solar system and near-Earth space. LÄS MER

  3. 23. Computational Aeroacoustics Based on Large Eddy Simulation and Acoustic Analogies

    Författare :Mihai Mihaescu; Laszlo Fuchs; Strömningsteknik; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Mechanical engineering; hydraulics; plasma; Technological sciences; Teknik; fluiddynamik; plasmas; Gaser; fluid dynamics; Gases; Inhomogeneous Wave Equation; Acoustic Boundary Conditions; Acoustic Source Terms; LES; Computational Aeroacoustics; Turbulent Flows; vacuum technology; vibration and acoustic engineering; Maskinteknik; hydraulik; vakuumteknik; vibrationer; akustik; Computational Aeroacoustics;

    Sammanfattning : The thesis presents a numerical method developed by the author and its applications for computing the generated sound by an unsteady flow field and its propagation. The full equations of motion for compressible and unsteady flows describe both flow field and sound generation and propagation. LÄS MER

  4. 24. Numerical modeling of deforming bubble transport related to cavitating hydraulic turbines

    Författare :Daniel Lörstad; Institutionen för energivetenskaper; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Gases; fluid dynamics; plasmas; Gaser; fluiddynamik; plasma; Energy research; Energiforskning; Direction Averaged Curvature DAC ; Direction Averaged Normal DAN ; Volume of Solid VOS ; Volume of Fluid VOF ; Lagrangian Particle Tracking LPT ; Large Eddy Simulation LES ; bubble; multiphase; turbulent flows; CFD; hydro-turbine;

    Sammanfattning : Cavitation is a problem in many hydroelectric power plants since it can cause adverse effects on performance and damage to nearby solid surfaces. The concerns of this thesis are the numerical aspects of flow simulations in cavitating hydraulic turbines which contain several difficulties: turbulent and complex flows, steady and moving parts of the geometry, bubble transport and cavitation development.
