  1. 1. Rosetta Observations of Plasma and Dust at Comet 67P

    Författare :Fredrik Leffe Johansson; Anders Eriksson; Jan-Erik Wahlund; Nicolas André; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Rosetta; Comets; Plasma; Langmuir Probes; Dust; Spacecraft-plasma interaction; Electrostatic Probes; Rosetta; kometer; plasma; stoft; rymdfarkost-plasma växelverkan; Fysik med inriktning mot rymd- och plasmafysik; Physics with specialization in Space and Plasma Physics;

    Sammanfattning : In-situ observations of cometary plasma are not made because they are easy. The historic ESA Rosetta mission was launched in 2004 and traversed space for ten years before arriving at comet 67P/Churyumov-Gerasimenko, which it studied in unprecedented detail for two years. 2. 2. Electrostatic plasma waves associated with collisionless magnetic reconnection : Spacecraft observations

    Författare :Konrad Steinvall; Yuri Khotyaintsev; Daniel Graham; Andris Vaivads; Jonathan Rae; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Magnetic reconnection; Plasma waves; Electron holes; Solar wind; Magnetosphere; Magnetospheric Multiscale; Solar Orbiter; Fysik med inriktning mot rymd- och plasmafysik; Physics with specialization in Space and Plasma Physics;

    Sammanfattning : Magnetic reconnection is a fundamental plasma process where changes in magnetic field topology result in explosive energy conversion, plasma mixing, heating, and energization. In geospace, magnetic reconnection couples the Earth’s magnetosphere to the solar wind plasma, enabling plasma transport across the magnetopause. LÄS MER

  3. 3. Ion dynamics and structure of collisionless shocks in space

    Författare :Andreas Johlander; Andris Vaivads; Robert F. Wimmer-Schweingruber; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Fysik med inriktning mot rymd- och plasmafysik; Physics with specialization in Space and Plasma Physics;

    Sammanfattning : Shock waves form when supersonic flows encounter an obstacle. Like in regular gases, shock waves can form in a plasma - a gas of electrically charged particles. Shock waves in plasmas where collisions between particles are very rare are referred to as collisionless shock waves. LÄS MER

  4. 4. Plasma and Dust around Icy Moon Enceladus and Comet 67P/Churyumov-Gerasimenko

    Författare :Ilka. A. D. Engelhardt; Anders Eriksson; Ingrid Mann; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Fysik med inriktning mot rymd- och plasmafysik; Physics with specialization in Space and Plasma Physics;

    Sammanfattning : Saturn's moon Enceladus and comet 67P/Churyumov-Gerasimenko both are examples of icy solar system objects from which gas and dust flow into space. At both bodies, the gas becomes partly ionized and the dust grains get charged. LÄS MER

  5. 5. Neutron Emission Spectrometry for Fusion Reactor Diagnosis : Method Development and Data Analysis

    Författare :Jacob Eriksson; Göran Ericsson; Carl Hellesen; Sean Conroy; Andreas Dinklage; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; fusion; plasma diagnostics; neutron spectrometry; TOFOR; MPRu; tokamak; JET; fast ions; fuel ion density; relativistic kinematics; Fysik med inriktning mot tillämpad kärnfysik; Physics with specialization in Applied Nuclear Physics;

    Sammanfattning : It is possible to obtain information about various properties of the fuel ions deuterium (D) and tritium (T) in a fusion plasma by measuring the neutron emission from the plasma. Neutrons are produced in fusion reactions between the fuel ions, which means that the intensity and energy spectrum of the emitted neutrons are related to the densities and velocity distributions of these ions.
