1. Experimental study of bubble dynamics and transport
Sammanfattning : The thesis concerns experimental studies of bubble motion and the transport of large particles and bubbles. Bubbly flows are encountered in many engineering applications where the bubbles play an important role for the mass transfer between the phases, e.g. in stirred reactors. LÄS MER
2. Numerical modeling of deforming bubble transport related to cavitating hydraulic turbines
Sammanfattning : Cavitation is a problem in many hydroelectric power plants since it can cause adverse effects on performance and damage to nearby solid surfaces. The concerns of this thesis are the numerical aspects of flow simulations in cavitating hydraulic turbines which contain several difficulties: turbulent and complex flows, steady and moving parts of the geometry, bubble transport and cavitation development. 3. Hydrodynamics in bubble columns with and without packing
Sammanfattning : .... LÄS MER
4. Fluid dynamics and mass transfer in bubble columns with and without packing
Sammanfattning : Bubble columns are used in the chemical industry to perform gas liquid reactions, like oxidation, hydrogenation and fermentation. The objective of the present thesis was mainly to study the fluid dynamics of semi batch packed bubble columns at both atmospheric and pressurized conditions. LÄS MER
5. Experimental Investigation of Cavitation-Bubble-Induced Atomization
Sammanfattning : Improving the efficiency and lowering the emissions of internal combustion engines (ICE) has been drawing increased attention because climate change caused by greenhouse gases and the need to reduce emission harmful to human health, and stricter legislation on the emissions from liquid-fueled transportation is implemented. Design of the liquid fuel atomizer, which atomizes the fuel delivered into the combustion chamber by the fuel injection system, is important because a good atomization, which facilitates the evaporation of fuel and improves the fuel-air mixture, leads to higher efficiency and lower emissions of ICE.
