  1. 1. Reliability-based design of rock tunnel support

    Författare :William Bjureland; Fredrik Johansson; Stefan Larsson; Johan Spross; Lars Rosén; KTH; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Rock engineering; reliability-based design; Eurocode 7; observational method; tunnel engineering; Bergmekanik; sannolikhetsbaserad dimensionering; Eurokod 7; observationsmetoden; tunnelbyggnad; Jord- och bergmekanik; Soil and Rock Mechanics;

    Sammanfattning : Since 2009, design of rock tunnels can be performed in accordance with the Eurocodes, which allows that different design methodologies are applied, such as design by calculation or design using the observational method. To account for uncertainties in design, the Eurocode states that design by calculation should primarily be performed using the partial factor method or reliability-based methods. LÄS MER

  2. 2. Identifying locally induced loads in hard rock tunnel linings by distributed optical fibre sensors

    Författare :August Jansson; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Distributed optical fibre sensors; Structural health monitoring; Tunnel lining experiments;

    Sammanfattning : In an infrastructure system, tunnels enable fast means of transportation in impassable terrain or city areas. However, inspections and maintenance can be expensive due to long down time and, in hard rock tunnels, the complexity of the structure may lead to over designing. LÄS MER

  3. 3. Well Testing, Methods and Applicability

    Författare :Jan-Erik Rosberg; Teknisk geologi; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; slug tests; well completion; re-injection; Well testing; pumping tests; injection tests; well development; pneumatic initiation; hydro-jetting; coiled tubing; tunnel lining; deep wells;

    Sammanfattning : Well testing is widely used today in water wells, oil and gas wells, for geothermal applications, within civil engineering projects, thermal storage and CO2 storage. The overall testing goal is to verify the productivity from a well and/or for characterization of hydraulic and thermal properties, as well as the spatial limitations of an aquifer. LÄS MER

  4. 4. Drip Sealing Grouting of Tunnels in Crystalline Rock: Conceptualisation and Technical Strategies

    Författare :Christian Butron; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; icicle formation; drip sealing; unsaturated flow; rock fracture; dripping.; channels; crystalline rock; design; Grouting; ice growth; evaluation;

    Sammanfattning : A conceptual model of the groundwater hydraulic conditions around the tunnel contour in ancient brittle crystalline rocks has been developed and verified. The general aim has been to reach an understanding of the groundwater conditions in and close to the tunnel roof where dripping takes place and to propose technical and practical strategies for waterproofing. 5. 5. Biochemical Studies on a Plant Epoxide Hydrolase : Discovery of a Proton Entry and Exit Pathway and the Use of In vitro Evolution to Shift Enantioselectivity

    Författare :Ann Gurell; Mikael Widersten; Bengt Mannervik; Dick Janssen; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; epoxide hydrolase; enantioselectivity; in vitro evolution; proton wire; epoxides; selectivity; CASTing; structure-function; Biochemistry; Biokemi; Biokemi; Biochemistry;

    Sammanfattning : The work leading to this thesis has provided additional information and novel knowledge concerning structure-function relationship in the potato epoxide hydrolase. Epoxide hydrolases are enzymes catalyzing the hydrolysis of epoxides to yield the corresponding vicinal diols. LÄS MER
