1. Physiopathological aspects of NMDA transmission in the basal ganglia : in vitro and in vivo release studies
Sammanfattning : N-methyl-D-aspartic acid (NMDA) is an excitatory amino acid selectively acting on a subclass of glutamate receptors (the NMDA ionotropic receptor) which has been involved in many of the physiological and pathological effects of glutamate in the CNS. The basal ganglia are particularly enriched in NMDA receptors and NMDA receptor activation in the basal ganglia has been involved in the expression of motor behaviour. LÄS MER
2. Mechanisms of muscarinic feedback regulation of acetylcholine release in rat hippocampus : an in vitro study
Sammanfattning : The present study on dilute suspensions of synaptosomes from rat hippocampus yields evidence that feedback regulation of acetylcholine release in this preparation is exerted by a muscarinic autoreceptor localized on the cholinergic nerve ending itself.A possible model for the sequence of events which may take place at the cholinergic nerve ending is presented. 3. Structure and function of the presynaptically neurotoxic phospholipase A² from the Australian tiger snake - Notechis scutatus scutatus
Sammanfattning : Notexin is a member of the phospholipase A2, (PLA2) family of proteins. Despitethe fact they are homologous proteins with similar sequence and almost identicalstructures, they show an impressing diversity of functions. LÄS MER
4. Pathophysiological effects of alpha-synuclein on SNARE complex proteins in models of alpha-synucleinopathies
Sammanfattning : Accumulation and spread of alpha-synuclein (α-syn) aggregates are central to the disease pathogenesis of Parkinson’s disease and dementia with Lewy bodies, collectively known as α-synucleinopathies. Native α-syn is a monomeric presynaptic protein that can act as a molecular chaperone for the soluble N-ethylmaleimide-sensitive factor attachment protein receptor (SNARE) complex assembly. LÄS MER
5. In silico tools in risk assessment : of industrial chemicals in general and non-dioxin-like PCBs in particular
Sammanfattning : Industrial chemicals in European Union produced or imported in volumes above 1 tonne annually, necessitate a registration within REACH. A common problem, concerning these chemicals, is deficient information and lack of data for assessing the hazards posed to human health and the environment. LÄS MER
