1. Models of alveolar remodeling in chronic lung disease
Sammanfattning : Lung function is highly dependent on the structure of the lung parenchyma. Remodeling of the alveolar compartment is a central part of the pathology of chronic lung disease such as chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) and idiopathic pulmonary fibrosis (IPF). LÄS MER
2. Learning by modeling energy systems
Sammanfattning : Meeting the 2°C climate target would likely require reducing carbon dioxide emissions from the global energy system to virtually zero within 50-100 years, and within 30-50 years for the 1.5°C target. LÄS MER
3. Cyclic guanosine 3', 5'-monophosphate : studies on synthesis and efflux from hepatocytes, liver slices and cerebellar slices and on serotonin-mediated cGMP synthesis in human platelets
Sammanfattning : The present study established the existence of a carrier mediated transport of 3'5' cGMP from rat liver slices, hepatocytes and cerebellar slices in which the cellular levels of 3'5' cGMP were elevated by application of appropriate stimuli and inhibitors of the 3'5' cyclic nucleotide phosphodiesterase. The carrier is specific for 3'5' cGMP as opposed to 3'5' cAMP. LÄS MER
4. Calpain-Mediated Apoptosis in Motor Neurons of Adult Mouse Spinal Cord Slices
Sammanfattning : Motor neuron degeneration is a critical phenomenon during spinal cord injuries and some neurodegenerative diseases. However, the mechanisms by which cell death is induced in these neurons are poorly understood. LÄS MER
5. Regulation by glutamate- and adenosine-receptors of dopamine and acetylcholine release from rat striatal slices
Sammanfattning : The striatum, which is critically involved in sensory motor integration, receives an excitatory glutamatergic input from the cerebral cortex and the thalamus. The effects of the glutamatergic stimulation are modulated by dopamine (DA) released from a prominent dopaminergic input, acetylcholine (ACh) released from cholinergic interneurons and by the ubiquitous neuromodulator adenosine.
