11. GH Secretion in children. Methodological aspects of determining immunoreactive and bioactive isoforms
Sammanfattning : A child's hormone-dependent growth is dependent on multiple factors, although linear growth is closely associated with levels of growth hormone (GH) secretion. As GH in serum exists in several isoforms, some of which may not be identified by immunoassay, possible alterations in the secretion of these different isoforms in childhood may influence growth and/or metabolism. 12. Risk factors and adverse pregnancy outcomes in small-for-gestational-age births
Sammanfattning : The studies were undertaken to evaluate risk factors and outcomes in small-for-gestational-age (SGA) births, in cohort studies using the population-based Swedish Birth, Twin and Education Registers. A cohort study of pregnant women from Uppsala County evaluated the effect on birthweight by caffeine. LÄS MER
13. Clinical factors and outcome in T-cell lymphoma: a population-based perspective
Sammanfattning : The heterogeneous group of T-cell lymphomas consist mostly of aggressive diseasess, with generally unfavourable outcome compared to aggressive B-cell lymphomas following similar therapy. This thesis focus on outcome and risk factors for inferior survival, in an unselected population-based cohort of T-cell lymphoma patients. LÄS MER
14. Regulating Vessel-Source Air Pollution - Standard-Setting in the Regulation of SOx Emissions
Sammanfattning : Emissions of sulphur oxides (SOx) cause considerable global environmental and human health impacts including acidification, climate change, and increased premature deaths in human populations due to serious heart and lung diseases. Although recently revised regulations in MARPOL 73/78 Annex VI are expected to decrease SOx emissions from ships, it is clear that these regulations will need further development. LÄS MER
15. On Evaluation of Working Conditions aboard High-Performance Marine Craft
Sammanfattning : High-Performance Marine Craft (HPMC) is a complex system confronted by the stochastic nature of the waves challenging the safety of life at sea. The personnel aboard these craft are vulnerable to detrimental conditions, in fact, limiting the system’s performance evoking the significance of the Human Factors Integration (HFI) in the design and operation of these craft.
