1. Keratinocytes and Adipose-derived mesenchymal stem cells : The heir and the spare to regenerative cellular therapies for difficult-to-heal skin wounds
Sammanfattning : Cell-based therapy is considered as Advanced Therapy Medicinal Product, (ATMP), which had increasingly stricter regulations in the last decade. The cells must be produced according to the ‘Guidelines on Good Manufacturing Practice (GMP) specific to Advanced Therapy Medicinal Products’, adopted by the European Medicines Agency (EMA). LÄS MER

Sammanfattning : Health-related quality of life after stem cell transplantation – The first year Inger Andersson Institute of Health and Care Sciences at Sahlgrenska Academy, University of Gothenburg, Gothenburg, Sweden Abstract High-Dose Chemotherapy (HDC) followed by Stem Cell Transplantation (SCT) has been proven to be beneficial for a variety of haematological diseases, solid tumours and immune disorders. Despite improved care and treatment, SCT continues to produce significant long-term complications with impaired functioning and distressing symptoms. LÄS MER
4. Cell and gene therapy for blood disorders. Modeling of novel treatment strategies for Gaucher type 1 disease and Diamond-Blackfan anemia in mice
Sammanfattning : Gaucher disease type 1 (GD type 1) and Diamond-Blackfan anemia (DBA) are rare genetic disorders affecting the hematopoietic system and routinely treated by administration of drugs with variable clinical efficacy. Though effective in alleviating disease symptoms in large cohorts of patients, these treatment options have the major drawback of being non-curative. LÄS MER
5. Vaccine responses after chemotherapy or stem cell transplantation in patients with hematological malignancies
Sammanfattning : The prevention of infections in patients with hematological malignancies is important given the inherent immune deficiency associated with these diseases and the immunosuppressive effects of treatment. This thesis investigated the efficacy of vaccines against various pathogens among patients with hematological disease receiving chemotherapy or stem cell transplantation, including the longevity of vaccine responses.
