  1. 36. Role of the co-transcriptional regulators Yap/Taz in the normal and fibrotic lung epithelia

    Författare :Hani N. Alsafadi; NanoLund: Centre for Nanoscience; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Lung Epithelium; idiopathic pulmonary fibrosis IPF ; Developmental pathways; Hippo Signaling; Yap Taz; transcription factors; 3D culture models; ;

    Sammanfattning : Idiopathic pulmonary fibrosis (IPF) is a fatal disease that exhibits patterns of usual interstitial pneumonia with honeycombing. IPF is characterized by damaged distal lung epithelium with excessive tissue scarring and extracellular matrix remodeling. The etiology of IPF is unknown and current therapies cannot end or reverse disease progression. LÄS MER

  2. 37. Expression and novel function of CD43 in colon cancer cells

    Författare :Christian X Andersson; Göteborgs universitet; []
    Nyckelord :CD43; leukosialin; sialophorin; mucin; nuclear localization; nuclear signaling; Wnt-signaling; beta-catenin; regulated intramembrane cleavage; RIP; proteolytic cleavage;

    Sammanfattning : CD43 is a transmembrane protein containing an extracellular domain that is extensively O-glycosylated, and a relatively large intracellular domain with a conserved sequence between human, rat and mouse. It is frequently expressed in haematopoietic cell lines where it functions as a regulator of cell adhesiveness, a signal transducer and a cytoskeleton-interacting protein. LÄS MER

  3. 38. Pathways linking sleep, neuroimmune signaling and pain: an integrative approach

    Författare :Martin Flores Bjurström; Anestesiologi och intensivvård; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; pain; neuroinflammation; inflammation; glia; central sensitization; cerebrospinal fluid; osteoarthritis; chronic postsurgical pain; groin hernia repair; sleep; sleep disturbance; perioperative; neurophysiology;

    Sammanfattning : Background and objectives: Neuroinflammation is implicated in the development and maintenance of persistent pain states, but there is limited data linking cerebrospinal fluid (CSF) inflammatory mediators with neurophysiological pain processes in humans. Study I aimed to investigate whether there are coherent changes in CSF inflammation associated with central sensitization (CS), and to evaluate potential differences in CSF levels of inflammatory mediators between osteoarthritis (OA) patients with disabling pain and pain-free controls. 4. 39. Effect of Hyaluronan-activation of CD44 on Cell Signaling and Tumorigenesis

    Författare :Lingli Li; Paraskevi Heldin; Raija H. Tammi; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :Biomedicine; Hyaluronan; CD44; growth factors; chemokines; tumorigenesis; wound healing; cell signaling; Biomedicin;

    Sammanfattning : Hyaluronan (HA), a structural component in the extracellular matrix (ECM), has been recognized as a signaling molecule. It is important during various biological activities such as embryogenesis, angiogenesis, wound healing and tumor progression. LÄS MER

  5. 40. Tissue Factor Biological Functions : Coagulation Activity in Microparticles and Signaling with Focus On Migration and Apoptosis

    Författare :Mikael Åberg; Agneta Siegbahn; Carl-Henrik Heldin; Teet Velling; Björn Dahlbäck; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Tissue factor; Apoptosis; Migration; Chemotaxis; Simvastatin; Platelet Derived Growth Factor; Cell Signaling; Microparticles; Prostasomes; Trombosis; Coagulation; Prostate Cancer; Breast Cancer; Caspase-3; Caspase-8; NFkappaB; PAR2; Transactivation; Monocytes; Clinical chemistry; Klinisk kemi;

    Sammanfattning : Background: Tissue factor (TF) is a 47 kDa transmembrane glycoprotein known as the main initiator of blood coagulation. TF is over-expressed on many malignant cells and apart from increasing the risk of thrombosis, the presence of TF/FVIIa also promotes the progression of cancer and metastasis by intracellular signaling.
