  1. 1. Expression and novel function of CD43 in colon cancer cells

    Författare :Christian X Andersson; Göteborgs universitet; []
    Nyckelord :CD43; leukosialin; sialophorin; mucin; nuclear localization; nuclear signaling; Wnt-signaling; beta-catenin; regulated intramembrane cleavage; RIP; proteolytic cleavage;

    Sammanfattning : CD43 is a transmembrane protein containing an extracellular domain that is extensively O-glycosylated, and a relatively large intracellular domain with a conserved sequence between human, rat and mouse. It is frequently expressed in haematopoietic cell lines where it functions as a regulator of cell adhesiveness, a signal transducer and a cytoskeleton-interacting protein. LÄS MER

  2. 2. Signaling pathways in Drosophila immunity

    Författare :Shiva Seyedoleslami Esfahani; Ylva Engström; Steven Wasserman; Stockholms universitet; []
    Nyckelord :Drosophila immunity; signaling pathways; Cactus; NFκB; Molecular Biology; molekylärbiologi;

    Sammanfattning : Drosophila relies on innate immunity to protect itself from its hostile environment throughout its life cycle. Despite the remarkable progress in understanding many aspects of Drosophila immunity, there are still big gaps in our knowledge. LÄS MER

  3. 3. TGF-beta signaling in cancer

    Författare :Erik Johansson; Göteborgs universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; TGF-β; proliferation; cancer; tumor suppressor; diffuse-type gastric carcinoma; neuroblastoma; nuclear receptor TLX; cancer stem cell; angiogenesis; ABCG2; VHL; HIF2α; hypoxia; Smad3;

    Sammanfattning : Transforming Growth Factor Beta (TGF-β) is a cytokine regulating a wide range of cellular processes such as proliferation, differentiation, and migration. At the early stages of cancer development TGF-β functions as a tumor suppressor, mainly due to its inhibitory effect on cellular growth, but during cancer progression, mutations in TGF-β signal components switches TGF-β into a promoter of cancer cell proliferation, survival and metastasis. 4. 4. Peroxiredoxins in Redox Signaling and Aging

    Författare :Friederike Roger; Göteborgs universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Aging; Peroxiredoxin; Redox Signaling; Caloric restriction; light sensing;

    Sammanfattning : Peroxiredoxins have emerged as conserved modulators of the rate of aging in yeast and multicellular organisms and play a role in lifespan extension through the anti-aging intervention caloric restriction. Yet, it is not clear through what mechanism peroxiredoxins extend lifespan. LÄS MER

  5. 5. Enzymatic Regulation of Steroidogenesis and Nuclear Receptor Activation : Special Focus on Vitamin D and Sex Hormones

    Författare :Johan Lundqvist; Kjell Wikvall; Maria Norlin; Magnus Ingelman-Sundberg; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; adrenal steroidogenesis; CYP7B1; vitamin D; calcitriol; enzymatic regulation; transcriptional regulation; CYP21A2; aromatase; sex hormone; estrogen; androgen; nuclear receptor; Pharmaceutical biochemistry; Farmaceutisk biokemi; Farmaceutisk biokemi; Pharmaceutical Biochemistry;

    Sammanfattning : Enzyme-catalyzed reactions are important to regulate steroidogenesis and nuclear receptor activation. The present investigation examines the role of steroid metabolism catalyzed by CYP7B1 for regulation of hormone receptor activation and the effects of vitamin D on enzymatic regulation of steroidogenesis.
