  1. 41. MRI assessment of haemophilic arthropathy

    Författare :Björn Lundin; Lund Diagnostisk radiologi; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; radiologi; tomografi; medicinsk instrumentering; medical instrumentation; tomography; radiology; Clinical physics; Medicin människa och djur ; Medicine human and vertebrates ; Arthropathy; Factor VIII; Factor IX; MRI; Haemophilia; Klinisk fysiologi;

    Sammanfattning : Haemophilia is a recessive genetic bleeding disorder in which coagulation time is prolonged due to the absence or malfunction of either of the serum proteins Factor VIII or IX. Joint destruction following repeated haemarthroses is the main cause of morbidity in haemophiliacs, and such arthropathy can be prevented or postponed by implementing prophylactic therapy with factor concentrate at an early age. 2. 42. Gadodiamide injection for Enhancement of MRI in the CNS. Applications, dose, field and time dependence

    Författare :Per Åkeson; Malmö Diagnostisk radiologi; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Clinical physics; Phantom study.; Comparative study; Human; Time dependence; Dosage; Enhancement; Gadolinium; MRI contrast media; Contrast media; Magnetic resonance imaging; Spine; Brain neoplasms; secondary; Brain; radiology; tomography; medical instrumentation; Klinisk fysiologi; radiologi; tomografi; medicinsk instrumentering;

    Sammanfattning : Aims of the study The aims of this study using Gadodiamide injection were to investigate: · Whether Gadodiamide injection was comparable to Gd-DTPA for the enhancement of CNS lesions. · The contrast effect at different field strengths. · The effective time-window for the enhancement of blood-brain barrier damage. 3. 43. Therapeutic aspects of oral and pharyngeal swallowing dysfunction. Videoradiographic and videomanometric analyses of adult healthy volunteers and dysphagic patients

    Författare :Margareta Bülow; Malmö Diagnostisk radiologi; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; medical instrumentation; tomography; radiology; Clinical physics; Therapy; Videoradiography; Videomanometry; Dysphagia; Dysfunction; Swallowing; Klinisk fysiologi; radiologi; tomografi; medicinsk instrumentering;

    Sammanfattning : In this study simultaneous videoradiography and intraluminal manometry (videomanometry) have been used in combination in three studies to analyze how different therapeutic strategies affect the physiology of swallowing in healthy volunteers and in patients with pharyngeal dysfunction. Analyses of healthy volunteers showed few significant measurable effects on the pharyngeal swallow. LÄS MER

  4. 44. Functional and morphological MR studies in congenital cardiovascular malformations

    Författare :Catarina Holmqvist; Lund Diagnostisk radiologi; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; medicinsk instrumentering; tomografi; radiologi; Klinisk fysiologi; Contrast-enhanced MR angiography.; Coarctation; Intra-cardiac shunts; Conduits; Tetralogy of Fallot; Function; Flow; MR velocity mapping; Infants; Children; Magnetic Resonance Imaging; Angiocardiography; Heart; Congenital heart defects; medical instrumentation; tomography; radiology; Clinical physics;

    Sammanfattning : The aim of this study was to evaluate new MR techniques permitting qualitative and quantitative analysis of cardiac function and measurement of velocity and flow, and later on contrast-enhanced MR angiography, techniques largely unexplored in children with CHD. Infants with tetralogy of Fallot and pulmonary atresia with ventricular septal defect were examined pre-operatively. LÄS MER

  5. 45. Absorbed Dose Determination and Characteristics of Degraded Electron Beams: Application to Intraoperative Radiation Therapy

    Författare :Peter Björk; Internmedicin - epidemiologi; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Clinical physics; radiology; tomography; medical instrumentation; Klinisk fysiologi; radiologi; tomografi; medicinsk instrumentering; absorbed dose distribution; output factor; stopping-power ratio; beam characteristics; Monte Carlo calculation; electron beam dosimetry; applicator system; radiation therapy; linear accelerator; intraoperative radiotherapy;

    Sammanfattning : The aim of this work was to quantify limitations of and uncertainties in commonly used dosimetric techniques for relative absorbed dose determination in degraded electron beams, such as those encountered in intraoperative radiation therapy (IORT) and small-electron-field radiotherapy. Three different detector types were investigated with regard to measurements of output factors and relative absorbed dose distributions: (1) a parallel-plate ionization chamber, (2) a p-type silicon diode detector and (3) a diamond detector.
