  1. 1. Functional and morphological MR studies in congenital cardiovascular malformations

    Författare :Catarina Holmqvist; Lund Diagnostisk radiologi; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; medicinsk instrumentering; tomografi; radiologi; Klinisk fysiologi; Contrast-enhanced MR angiography.; Coarctation; Intra-cardiac shunts; Conduits; Tetralogy of Fallot; Function; Flow; MR velocity mapping; Infants; Children; Magnetic Resonance Imaging; Angiocardiography; Heart; Congenital heart defects; medical instrumentation; tomography; radiology; Clinical physics;

    Sammanfattning : The aim of this study was to evaluate new MR techniques permitting qualitative and quantitative analysis of cardiac function and measurement of velocity and flow, and later on contrast-enhanced MR angiography, techniques largely unexplored in children with CHD. Infants with tetralogy of Fallot and pulmonary atresia with ventricular septal defect were examined pre-operatively. LÄS MER

  2. 2. Conduits in coronary artery bypass grafting surgery : Saphenous vein, radial and internal thoracic arteries

    Författare :Mats Dreifaldt; Domingos Souza; Lars Norgren; Mats G. Karlsson; Michael R. Dashwood; Anders Jeppson; Örebro universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Cardiac surgery; Coronary artery bypass; Saphenous vein; Radial artery; Internal thoracic artery; Vasa vasorum; Nitric oxide; Graft patency; Medicine; Medicin;

    Sammanfattning : A novel technique for saphenous vein (SV) graft harvesting, the No-touch technique (NT), has been developed at the Dept. of Cardiovascular surgery, Örebro University hospital. With NT the SV is harvested with a pedicle of surrounding tissue. This avoids graft spasm and eliminates the need for distension. LÄS MER

  3. 3. Development of biosynthetic conduits for peripheral nerve repair

    Författare :Aleksandra McGrath; Liudmila N Novikova; John Haycock; Umeå universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Biosynthetic conduit; Mesenchymal stem cells; Nerve graft; Nerve tissue engineering; Peripheral nerve injury; Schwann cells;

    Sammanfattning : Peripheral nerve injuries are often associated with significant loss of nervous tissue leading to poor restoration of function following repair of injured nerves. Although the injury gap could be bridged by autologous nerve graft, the limited access to donor material and additional morbidity such as loss of sensation and scarring have prompted a search for biosynthetic nerve transplants. 4. 4. Biosynthetic conduits and cell transplantation for neural repair

    Författare :Jonas Pettersson; Lev Novikov; Liudmila Novikova; Mikael Wiberg; Lars Dahlin; Umeå universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Spinal cord injury; Peripheral nerve injury; Nerve graft; Biosynthetic conduit; Nerve tissue engineering; Neural prosthesis; Neuroscience; Neurovetenskap; neurologi; Neurology; neurokirurgi; Neurosurgery;

    Sammanfattning : Spinal cord injury results in complete failure of the central neurons to regenerate and is associated with cyst formation and enlargement of the trauma zone. In contrast to the spinal cord, axons in the injured peripheral nerve have the capacity to undergo some spontaneous regeneration. LÄS MER

  5. 5. Heat transfer through a well insulated external wooden frame wall : an investigation of the effects of normal defects in the insulation resulting from incident wind and air flow through the wall

    Författare :Peter Roots; Avdelningen för Byggnadsfysik; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Building construction; Electrical conduits.; Nogging pieces; Airgaps; Breaks in the insulation; Variations in the insulation; Through wind; Forced convection; Incident wind; Byggnadsteknik;

    Sammanfattning : The heat requirement of a building can turn out to be greater than was calculated at the design stage. The reason for this may be that heat transport though the building envelope is greater than expected. This in turn can be due to the structure not fulfilling the design requirements in respect of windtightness and airtightness. LÄS MER
