6. Studies on the Differential Specificity of Protein Kinases and Its Applications
Sammanfattning : Protein kinases are enzymes that catalyse the phosphoryl transfer from the g-phosphate of ATP to acceptor amino acids in proteins. The specificity of selected model protein kinases was studied at three different levels using a) novel bi-substrate-analogue inhibitors, b) synthetic peptide substrates and c) mutated protein substrate analogues. 7. DNA-Assisted Immunoassays for High-Performance Protein Analyses
Sammanfattning : Proteins play important roles in most cellular functions, such as, replication, transcription regulation, signal transduction, for catalyzing chemical reaction, etc. Technologies developed to identify proteins rely either on observing their own properties such as charge, size, mass to charge ratio or sequence composition; or on using affinity reagents that recognize specific protein targets. 8. Proximity Ligation Assay for High Performance Protein Analysis in Medicine
Sammanfattning : High quality reagents are preconditions for high performance protein analyses. But despite progress in some techniques, e.g. mass spectrometry, there is still a lack of affinity-based detection techniques with enhanced precision, specificity, and sensitivity. LÄS MER
9. Mapping and annotating the mammalian body-wide protein-coding gene expression
Sammanfattning : A central aim of fundamental research is to create conditions necessary for fueling further research and innovation. Our understanding of basic biology is central for future developments of tools for diagnosing, monitoring, and treating disease. LÄS MER
10. Anticoagulant protein C--structural and functional studies
Sammanfattning : Anticoagulant protein C is a vitamin K-dependent factor circulating in plasma as a zymogen of a serine protease. It is converted to its active form (APC) by the thrombin-thrombomodulin complex on the surface of endothelial cells. APC inhibits the generation of thrombin by selective proteolytic inactivation procoagulant factors Va and VIIIa. LÄS MER
