  1. 1. Non-protein-coding RNA : Transcription and regulation of ribosomal RNA

    Författare :Stefanie Böhm; Ann-Kristin Östlund Farrants; Brian McStay; Stockholms universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; ribosomal RNA; non-coding RNA; ribosomal genes; rDNA gene; B-WICH; chromatin remodelling; histone modification; Cell Biology; cellbiologi;

    Sammanfattning : Cell growth and proliferation are processes in the cell that must be tightly regulated. Transcription of ribosomal RNA and ribosomal biogenesis are directly linked to cell growth and proliferation, since the ribosomal RNA encodes for the majority of transcription in a cell and ribosomal biogenesis influences directly the number of proteins that are synthesized. 2. 2. Mapping and annotating the mammalian body-wide protein-coding gene expression

    Författare :Max Karlsson; Mathias Uhlén; Linn Fagerberg; Julio Saez-Rodriguez; KTH; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; protein; protein-coding; genes; annotation; atlas; scRNA-Seq; RNA-Seq; transcriptomics; proteomics; Biotechnology; Bioteknologi;

    Sammanfattning : A central aim of fundamental research is to create conditions necessary for fueling further research and innovation. Our understanding of basic biology is central for future developments of tools for diagnosing, monitoring, and treating disease. LÄS MER

  3. 3. Regulation of gene expression by non-protein-coding RNAs

    Författare :Mohammad Ali Faghihi; Karolinska Institutet; Karolinska Institutet; []
    Nyckelord :;

    Sammanfattning : The human genome sequencing projects revealed that the human genome contains over 3 billion DNA base pairs, but only 20,000 25,000 protein-coding genes. In fact, only about 1.2% of the genome codes for proteins. LÄS MER

  4. 4. Small non-coding RNAs in cancer

    Författare :Helena Persson; Bröstcancer-genetik; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; microRNA; non-coding RNA; breast cancer; CYP3A4; bladder cancer;

    Sammanfattning : The complex genetics of cancer, which allows tumours to grow and spread while bypassing the control circuitry of the cell, involves dysregulation of the genome, transcriptome and proteome. The importance of protein-coding genes such as growth factors and hormone receptors is well established. LÄS MER

  5. 5. Chromatin and transcriptome-based integrative approaches to profile functional long noncoding RNAs - A computational approach

    Författare :Santhilal Subhash; Göteborgs universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Computational biology; Long noncoding RNAs; Chromatin; S-phase; Cell cycle; sperm; Epigenetics; Histone; cancer; oncogene; Tumor suppressor; DNA methylation; Histone modifications; Chromatin remodelers; lncRNAs; lincRNAs;

    Sammanfattning : One of the major hallmarks of cancer is aberrant or uncontrollable cell division, which occurs due to a defective cell cycle process. During the synthesis phase (S-phase) of the cell cycle, before cell division or mitosis phase, the DNA in the cell makes a new copy to pass on genetic information to the daughter cells. LÄS MER
