1. Surface Properties of Antibodies and their Complexes with Antigens Studied by LLPC
Sammanfattning : The main objective of this thesis was to gain further insight into the relationship between the exposed surfaces and the functional properties of antibodies and their complexes with antigens in solution. To study this relationship, a new technique, liquid-liquid partition chromatography (LLPC) in aqueous two-phase systems, was developed further with respect to sensitivity, selectivity and reproducibility. 2. Systems enabling antibody-mediated proteomics research
Sammanfattning : As many genome sequencing efforts today are completed, we are now provided with the genetic maps for several organisms, including man. With these maps at hand, the scientific focus is now shifting towards investigations of the functionality of proteins. LÄS MER
3. Novel diagnostic microarray assay formats towards comprehensive on-site analysis
Sammanfattning : Advances in molecular methods for analyzing DNA, RNA and proteins in humans as well as in other animals, plants, fungi, bacteria or viruses have greatly increased the resolution with which we can study life’s complexity and dynamics on earth. While genomic, transcriptomic and proteomic laboratory tools for molecular diagnosis of disease are rapidly becoming more comprehensive, the access to such advanced yet often expensive and centralized procedures is limited. 4. Improvements and Applications of in situ Proximity Ligation Assays
Sammanfattning : The cells building up the human body is in constant communication with each other. This communication is done through large complex networks of signaling pathways for inter- and intracellular signal transduction. The signaling activity regulates many important processes, for example cell death, proliferation and differentiation. LÄS MER
5. A Biotechnology Perspective on Silicon Nanowire FETs for Biosensor Applications
Sammanfattning : The study of silicon nanowire-FET-based electronic biosensor applications is an emerging scientific field. These biosensors have the benefit of being theoretically extremely sensitive and reports of down to femtomolar (fM) levels of biomolecule detection have been reported. LÄS MER
