  1. 6. Elastic Neutron Scattering at 96 MeV

    Författare :Joakim Klug; Jan Blomgren; Arjan Plompen; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Nuclear physics; neutron; detection; CsI; elastic scattering; differential cross section; optical potential; kerma; Kärnfysik; Nuclear physics; Kärnfysik; Applied Nuclear Physics; Tillämpad kärnfysik;

    Sammanfattning : A facility for studies of elastic neutron scattering in the 50–130 MeV range has been developed. In addition to elastic neutron scattering, it has been used for (n,p) and (n,d) reaction experiments. The performance of the device has been illustrated in measurements of the (n,p) and (n,n) cross sections on 1H and 12C. LÄS MER

  2. 7. Fast neutron dosimetry : a study of basic dosimetric properties of fast-neutrons for external beam radiotherapy and problems associated with corrections of measured charged particle cross-sections

    Författare :Jonas Söderberg; Lennart Lindborg; Linköpings universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICINE; MEDICIN;

    Sammanfattning : Basic dosimetric properties of fast-neutron beams with energies ≤80 MeV were explored using Monte Carlo techniques. Elementary pencil-beam dose distributions taking into account transport of all relevant types of released charged particles (protons, deuterons, tritons, 3He and a particles) were calculated and used to derive several absorbed dose distributions. 3. 8. Studies of Accelerator-Driven Systems for Transmutation of Nuclear Waste

    Författare :Marcus Dahlfors; Ane Håkansson; Alfred Hogenbirk; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Nuclear physics; transmutation; accelerator-driven systems; Energy Amplifier; subcritical reactors; nuclear waste; Monte Carlo simulation; burnup; actinides; fission products; benchmark; nuclear data; neutron cross sections; sensitivity analysis; neutron source; spallation target; n_TOF experiment; neutron time-of-flight; cross section measurement; FLUKA; EA-MC; MCNP; MCNP-X; EADF; TRADE; Kärnfysik; Nuclear physics; Kärnfysik;

    Sammanfattning : Accelerator-driven systems for transmutation of nuclear waste have been suggested as a means for dealing with spent fuel components that pose potential radiological hazard for long periods of time. While not entirely removing the need for underground waste repositories, this nuclear waste incineration technology provides a viable method for reducing both waste volumes and storage times. 4. 9. High-Resolution Measurement of the 4He(g,n) Reaction in the Giant Resonance Region

    Författare :Björn Nilsson; Kärnfysik; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; tagged photons; photonuclear reactions; liquid helium; neutron detectors; liquid scintillators; giant resonances; angular distributions; differential cross sections; total cross sections; Nuclear physics; Kärnfysik; Fysicumarkivet A:2003:Nilsson;

    Sammanfattning : A comprehensive near-threshold 4He(g,n) absolute cross section measurement has been performed at the high-resolution tagged-photon facility MAX-lab located in Lund, Sweden. The 20 < Eg < 45 MeV tagged photons (covering the Giant Dipole Resonance energy region) were directed towards a liquid 4He target, and knocked-out neutrons were detected in a pair of 60 cm x 60 cm vetoed NE213A liquid scintillator arrays. 5. 10. Excursions Along the Drip Line

    Författare :Thomas Nilsson; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; beta-decay; cross-talk; exotic nuclei; reaction mechanism; neutron halo; gas-detector telescope; momentum distributions; 8He; neutron detection; radioactivity; 6; dissociation; neutron drip line; 11Be; Borromean systems; 11Li;

    Sammanfattning : The drip lines are the outer boundaries of the chart of the nuclides, terminating the isobaric chains on both sides of the valley of .beta.-stability with respect to stability against particle emission. The neutron drip line is, at the moment, only experimentally accessible for the very lightest elements. LÄS MER
