  1. 1. Neutron induced light-ion production from iron and bismuth at 175 MeV

    Författare :Riccardo Bevilacqua; Stephan Pomp; Magnus Wolke; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; neutron induced reactions; light-ion production; quasi-monoenergetic neutron beam; nuclear data; accelerator driven systems; Nuclear physics; Kärnfysik; Nuclear Physics; kärnfysik; Applied Nuclear Physics; tillämpad kärnfysik;

    Sammanfattning : Light-ions (protons, deuterons, tritons, 3He and α articles) production in the interaction of 175 MeV neutrons with iron and bismuth has been measured using the Medley setup at the The Svedberg Laboratory (TSL) in Uppsala. These measurements have been conducted in the frame of an international collaboration whose aim is to provide the scientific community with new nuclear data of interest for the development of Accelerator Driven Systems, in the range of 20 to 200 MeV. 2. 2. Fusion Plasma Observations at JET with the TOFOR Neutron Spectrometer : Instrumental Challenges and Physics Results

    Författare :Maria Gatu Johnson; Matthias Weiszflog; Luciano Bertalot; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Fusion; Plasma diagnostics; Neutron Spectrometry; TOFOR; JET; ITER; time-of-flight; plasma heating; Nuclear physics; Kärnfysik; Applied Nuclear Physics; Tillämpad kärnfysik;

    Sammanfattning : The neutron spectrometer TOFOR was installed at JET in 2005 for high-rate observation of neutrons from reactions between two deuterium (D) ions. Neutron spectrometry as a fusion plasma diagnostic technique is invoked to obtain information about the velocity states of fusion fuel ions. LÄS MER

  4. 4. Diagnosing Fuel Ions in Fusion Plasmas using Neutron Emission Spectroscopy

    Författare :Carl Hellesen; Göran Ericsson; Sean Conroy; William W Heidbrink; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; fusion; plasma diagnostics; neutron spectroscopy; NBI heating; ICRF heating; energetic ions; Fusion; Fusion; Nuclear physics; Kärnfysik; Applied Nuclear Physics; Tillämpad kärnfysik;

    Sammanfattning : Neutron emission spectra, measured with the time of flight spectrometer TOFOR, at the joint European torus (JET) are presented in this thesis. TOFOR has been in use since 2005, routinely measuring the neutron emission from JET plasmas. LÄS MER

  5. 5. Nucleon-Induced Fission Cross Sections of Heavy Nuclei in the Intermediate Energy Region

    Författare :Alexander Prokofiev; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Nuclear physics; Fission; cross section; n; f reaction; p; intermediate energy; database; nuclear reaction; neutron; Kärnfysik; Nuclear physics; Kärnfysik; Applied Nuclear Physics; tillämpad kärnfysik;

    Sammanfattning : Fission is the most important nuclear reaction for society at large today due to its use in energy production. However, this has raised the problem of how to treat the long-lived radioactive waste from nuclear reactors. LÄS MER
