    Sammanfattning : Man's attitude towards space exploration has been mainly limited by the health risk related to the exposure to the space radiation environment. Some components of the space field can be characterized by such a high flux to kill a man if directly exposed and in general, all space radiation constitutes a hazard for astronauts engaged in long-term missions.     Sammanfattning : A comprehensive near-threshold 4He(g,n) absolute cross section measurement has been performed at the high-resolution tagged-photon facility MAX-lab located in Lund, Sweden. The 20 < Eg < 45 MeV tagged photons (covering the Giant Dipole Resonance energy region) were directed towards a liquid 4He target, and knocked-out neutrons were detected in a pair of 60 cm x 60 cm vetoed NE213A liquid scintillator arrays.     Sammanfattning : The reaction cross section gives the probability that a particle will undergo a nonelastic process when passing through a nuclear medium. Therefore reaction cross section data are of importance both for theoretical studies and for applications in such diverse fields as medicine, biology, astrophysics and accelerator-driven transmutation of nuclear waste.
