26. Metabolomics studies of ALS : a multivariate search for clues about a devastating disease
Sammanfattning : Amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS), also known as Charcot’s disease, motor neuron disease (MND) and Lou Gehrig’s disease, is a deadly, adult-onset neurodegenerative disorder characterized by progressive loss of upper and lower motor neurons, resulting in evolving paresis of the linked muscles. ALS is defined by classical features of the disease, but may present as a wide spectrum of phenotypes. LÄS MER
27. Sensor-based knowledge- and data-driven methods : A case of Parkinson’s disease motor symptoms quantification
Sammanfattning : The overall aim of this thesis was to develop and evaluate new knowledge- and data-driven methods for supporting treatment and providing information for better assessment of Parkinson’s disease (PD).PD is complex and progressive. There is a large amount of inter- and intravariability in motor symptoms of patients with PD (PwPD). LÄS MER
28. Aspects of multilinear algebra in statistical analysis of seasonal multivariate time series
Sammanfattning : Representations of concepts from multivariate statistics are studied using multilinear algebra. Applications are given to the analysis of seasonal multivariate time series. The first paper concerns a class of permutation matrices which are representations of permutation operators on tensor spaces. LÄS MER
29. Contributions to Kernel Equating
Sammanfattning : The statistical practice of equating is needed when scores on different versions of the same standardized test are to be compared. This thesis constitutes four contributions to the observed-score equating framework kernel equating. LÄS MER
30. Cellular Reactions and Behavioral Changes in Focal and Diffuse Traumatic Brain Injury : A Study in the Rat and Mouse
Sammanfattning : Traumatic brain injury (TBI) is a severe condition and a major cause of death and disability. There is no pharmacological treatment available in clinical practice today and knowledge of brain injury mechanisms is of importance for development of neuroprotective drugs. LÄS MER
