  1. 16. Interactions of the Cell-Penetrating Peptide Penetratin with Model Membranes and Live Cells

    Författare :Daniel Persson; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; antisense; antennapedia homeodomain; delivery vector; cell-penetrating peptide; protein transduction; uptake; membrane translocation; penetratin; confocal microscopy; vesicle;

    Sammanfattning : The delivery of large, hydrophilic molecules, such as proteins and oligonucleotides, to the cytoplasm and nucleus of cells is problematic due to their generally low plasma membrane permeability. With the identification of a number of cell-penetrating peptides, capable of mediating non-endocytotic, intracellular delivery of macromolecular cargos, this obstacle now seems surmountable. LÄS MER

  2. 17. Identification and characterisation of chitin and cellulose synthases in oomycetes : New tools for biochemical studies and structure determination

    Författare :Stefan Klinter; Vincent Bulone; Lauren S. McKee; Mirjam Czjzek; KTH; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; biochemical characterisation; cellulose synthase; chitin synthase; in vitro activity assay; microtubule-interacting and trafficking domain; nanoparticle; oomycetes; phylogenetic analysis; yeast engineering; biokemisk karakterisering; cellulosasyntas; kitinsyntas; in vitro aktivitetsanalys; mikrotubulus-interagerande och -trafikerande domän; nanopartikel; oomyceter; fylogenetisk analys; jäst proteinteknik; Bioteknologi; Biotechnology;

    Sammanfattning : Despite resembling ‘true’ fungi in terms of morphological features, oomycetes form a distinct eukaryotic lineage of filamentous microorganisms that belongs to the stramenopiles, a group of protists also comprising the closely-related brown algae and diatoms. Many oomycetes are devastating pathogens of plants and animals, globally causing significant economic losses in the agriculture and aquaculture industries, and posing considerable environmental damage to natural ecosystems. 3. 18. Imaging mass spectrometry for in situ lipidomics: from cell structures to cardiac tissue

    Författare :Sanna Sämfors; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Myocardial infarction; PC12 cells; Cell membrane; Mass spectrometry imaging; Sample preparation; Lipidomics; ToF-SIMS; Gas cluster ion beam;

    Sammanfattning : Imaging of cells and tissues is important for studying different processes within biological systems due to the spatial information provided for different molecular species during imaging. One powerful imaging technique is mass spectrometry imaging (MSI). LÄS MER

  4. 19. The contribution of proteins and lipids to COPI vesicle formation and consumption

    Författare :Fredrik Kartberg; Göteborgs universitet; []
    Nyckelord :ARF1; COPI; ARFGAP; vesicle; fusion; diffusion;

    Sammanfattning : In the secretory pathway, movement of proteins between compartments occurs through small (50-100 nm) vesicles. The coat of COPI vesicles is composed the small GTPase ARF1 and the large coatomer complex. In the secretory pathway, these vesicles mediate Golgi-to-ER and intra-Golgi transport. LÄS MER

  5. 20. Membrane Interactions of Arginine-Rich Peptides for the Intracellular Delivery of Gene-Targeted Drugs

    Författare :Per Thoren; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; cellular uptake; translocation; protein transduction; circular dichroism; drug delivery; liposomes; resonance energy transfer; PNA; antigene; antisense;

    Sammanfattning : A major obstacle for the therapeutic use of e.g. oligonucleotides is their inherently poor cellular uptake. A recently discovered class of peptides, denoted cell-penetrating peptides, has been shown to traverse cell membranes, even when conjugated to oligonucleotides or even full-length proteins. LÄS MER
