  1. 1. Image-based multi-omics data integration : Exploring whole-body PET/MRI, -omics data and body composition

    Författare :Robin Visvanathar; Håkan Ahlström; Joel Kullberg; Jan Eriksson; Katrine Riklund; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Body composition; Imiomics; genomics; metabolomics; MRI; PET; insulin sensitivity; T2D;

    Sammanfattning : Advanced body composition analysis with whole-body imaging could uncover novel associations between regional tissue composition and metabolic disease. Imiomics is an automated image analysis framework that enables large-scale integration of magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) data and orthogonal technologies such as metabolomics and genomics for the detailed study of body composition. 2. 2. Adverse Muscle Composition : Revisiting Sarcopenia in General Population and Liver Disease using Magnetic Resonance Imaging

    Författare :Jennifer Linge; Mattias Ekstedt; Patrik Nasr; Martin Henriksson; Tommy Cederholm; Linköpings universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES;

    Sammanfattning : Sarcopenia - from the Greek words 'sarx' (flesh) and 'penia' (loss) - was, when coined in 1989, a term denoting the decline in muscle mass and strength that occurs with aging. Such definition implies everyone suffers from sarcopenia to varying degrees, which naturally makes studying sarcopenia challenging. LÄS MER

  3. 3. Content and Composition : An essay on tense, content, and semantic value

    Författare :Sara Packalén; Peter Pagin; Åsa Wikforss; Jeffrey King; Stockholms universitet; []
    Nyckelord :HUMANIORA; HUMANITIES; Semantic value; assertoric content; compositionality; tense; Kaplan; Lewis; communication; Theoretical Philosophy; teoretisk filosofi;

    Sammanfattning : A remarkable thing about natural language is that we can use it to share our beliefs and thoughts about the world with other speakers of our language. In cases of successful communication, beliefs seem to be transferred from speakers to hearers by means of the hearer recovering the contents of the speaker’s utterances. LÄS MER

  4. 4. Counterpoint and Partimento : Methods of Teaching Composition in Late Eighteenth-Century Naples

    Författare :Peter van Tour; Lars Dr.; Robert Gjerdingen; Lars Berglund; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :HUMANIORA; HUMANITIES; eighteenth-century music; Naples; conservatories; counterpoint; composition; compositional theory; improvisation; partimento; solfeggio; basso seguente; choral fugue; Francesco Durante; Leonardo Leo; Nicola Sala; Fedele Fenaroli; Musicology; Musikvetenskap; Musikvetenskap;

    Sammanfattning : During the second half of the eighteenth century, the city of Naples had three music conservatories: the Conservatorio di Santa Maria di Onofrio, the Conservatorio di Santa Maria di Loreto, and the Conservatorio di Santa Maria della Pietà de’ Turchini. Through disciplines such as solfeggio, partimento, and counterpoint, the students at these institutions received highly professional training in singing, instrumental playing, and composition. 5. 5. Metabolomics, body composition and fracture

    Författare :Rui Zheng; Karl Michaëlsson; Harri Sievänen; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Metabolomics; LC-MS; sample quality; cohort; body composition; fracture; Medicinsk vetenskap; Medical Science; Bioinformatics; Bioinformatik; Epidemiologi; Epidemiology; Orthopaedics; Ortopedi; Kemi med inriktning mot analytisk kemi; Chemistry with specialization in Analytical Chemistry;

    Sammanfattning : In this thesis, I evaluated the impact of pre-centrifugation sample management on the plasma metabolome, providing verification for the protocol used in a study where I applied metabolomics to better understand the role of body composition in fracture occurrence using a large population-based cohort.  In paper 1, I applied untargeted liquid chromatography-mass spectrometry (LC-MS) metabolomics analysis to plasma samples (n = 471) from healthy donors to predict and evaluate the effect of pre-centrifugation temperature and delay time on metabolomics data using a combination of random forest and generalized linear models.
