26. Aqueous Solutions as seen through an Electron Spectrometer : Surface Structure, Hydration Motifs and Ultrafast Charge Delocalization Dynamics
Sammanfattning : In spite of their high abundance and importance, aqueous systems are enigmatic on the microscopic scale. In order to obtain information about their geometrical and electronic structure, simple aqueous solutions have been studied experimentally by photo- and Auger electron spectroscopy using the novel liquid micro-jet technique in conjunction with synchrotron radiation. 27. Phase Behavior and Solution Properties of Aqueous Polyion-Surfactant Ion Systems
Sammanfattning : Polyelectrolytes and oppositely charged surfactants interact through attractive electrostatic forces, which in many cases lead to phase separation already at low total concentrations. During the past 10-15 years investigations of these systems have been simplified through the use of complex salts that consist of surfactants with polymeric counterions in a 1:1 charge stoichiometry (no excess simple counterions present). 28. Fermentation and Cultivation Technology for Improved Ethanol Production from Lignocellulose
Sammanfattning : The work presented in this thesis has been aiming at improving ethanol production from lignocellulose. Ethanol from renewable resources is receiving renewed attention due to apprehensions of global warming and dwindling oil reserves. Lignocellulose constitutes a potential raw material source for large scale ethanol production. LÄS MER
29. Towards a retro-structural design of degradable aliphatic polyester-based materials
Sammanfattning : The increasing amount of accumulated plastic waste has led to a continuous search for degradable materials for use in a variety of applications. This eco-friendly approach contemplates the use of degradable alternatives to the inert polymers (the main components in plastics) used today and further engineering of their degradation pathways.
