  1. 1. Adolescent behavior : Links to early-life stress and alcohol in male and female rats

    Författare :Stina Lundberg; Erika Roman; Ingrid Nylander; Heidi MB Lesscher; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Adolescence; alcohol exposure; behavior; corticosterone; dynorphin; early life; endogenous opioid peptides; Met-enkephalin-Arg6Phe7 MEAP ; individual differences; multivariate concentric square field MCSF ; phenotyping; radioimmunoassay; selective breeding for alcohol consumption; voluntary alcohol intake; Farmaceutisk vetenskap; Pharmaceutical Science;

    Sammanfattning : Adolescence is an important developmental phase with large changes in behavior, physiology and neurobiology, which transform an individual from immature child to independent adult. Due to these changes, adolescence is a sensitive period for exposure to environmental factors such as stress and drug exposure; it is also a common age of onset for alcohol consumption as well as several psychiatric disorders. 2. 2. Phase Diagrams, Microstructure and Phase Separation in Alkyl Glucoside Systems

    Författare :Johan Reimer; Fysikalisk kemi; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Fysikalisk kemi; Physical chemistry; micellar network; NMR diffusometry; microemulsion; microstructure; phase diagram; phase separation; phase behaviour; alkyl glucoside; sugar surfactant;

    Sammanfattning : The aim of this thesis work was to study phase diagrams, microstructure and phase separation in alkylglucoside systems. Both alkyl glucoside/water systems and microemulsions with alkyl glucosides have been studied. LÄS MER

  3. 3. Structure and Phase Behavior of Protein Solutions

    Författare :Björn Persson; Teoretisk kemi; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Statistical Mechanics; Simulations; Protein Interactions; Phase Separation; Aggregation; Mutual Amplification;

    Sammanfattning : The complexity of proteins is reflected in the structure of their fluids. This is seen from strongly inhomogeneous distributions about the single protein. Using molecular simulations of protein models, based on experimental structures, the present work probes the directional forces between proteins. LÄS MER

  4. 4. Phase Behavior and Solution Properties of Aqueous Polyion-Surfactant Ion Systems

    Författare :John Janiak; Fysikalisk kemi; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Polymer-surfactant association; complex salt; nonionic surfactant; poly acrylic acid ; poly methacrylic acid ; copolymer; polymeric counterion; decyl betainate; phase behavior; solubilization; mixed micelle; hydrolysis; release; liquid crystal; nanoparticles; thermosresponsive; C12E8; C12E5;

    Sammanfattning : Polyelectrolytes and oppositely charged surfactants interact through attractive electrostatic forces, which in many cases lead to phase separation already at low total concentrations. During the past 10-15 years investigations of these systems have been simplified through the use of complex salts that consist of surfactants with polymeric counterions in a 1:1 charge stoichiometry (no excess simple counterions present). 5. 5. Mechanical Behavior of Tailings : Laboratory Tests from a Swedish Tailings Dam

    Författare :Riaz Bhanbhro; Luleå tekniska universitet; []
    Nyckelord :ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Tailings dams; Tailings; Mechanical Behavior; Oedometer; Direct Shear; Triaxial; Shear strength; Soil Mechanics; Geoteknik;

    Sammanfattning : Tailings is leftover material from mining industry and is produced in huge quantities approximately 70-99% of the ore production.  Tailings material is stored as impoundments by constructing tailings dams which are often constructed with tailings material itself. LÄS MER
