1. Absorption and accumulation of cadmium from cereal grains
Sammanfattning : Cadmium (Cd) is a potentially toxic trace element. Cereal grains contribute one-third to one-half of the Cd exposure via the diet. Among cereal grains, wheat generally contains the highest Cd concentration and the bran and germ fractions contain more Cd than the endosperm. LÄS MER
2. Dynamics and Intrinsic Variability of Spintronic Devices
Sammanfattning : Spintronics is a scientific domain focusing on utilizing electron spin for information processing. This is the element that distinguishes it from electronics, which only utilizes the charge of electrons. LÄS MER
3. Fermented probiotic beverage based on quinoa : Functionality, hygiene, and health effects
Sammanfattning : White quinoa grains were used as a source of novel beneficial microorganisms and as a matrix for development of a fermented plant-based drink. Studies on the quinoa grain microbiota were performed by applying spontaneous fermentation to allow isolation of autochthonous Lactiplantibacillus strains with potential to be used as starter cultures. 4. Inhibition of Calcium and Zinc Absorption by Phytate in Man Methodological Studies and Hydrothermal Processing of Cereals to Improve Absorption
Sammanfattning : A mathematical model based on measurements in a whole-body counter described the retention of calcium in the human body. It was shown that the relative retention of intravenous and orally administered 47Ca in all subjects (n = 10 - 11) were well described by fitting a simple function of time with two free parameters to a few whole-body measurements after day 6, when the unabsorbed calcium had been excreted. 5. Nutritional and physicochemical characterisation of dietary fibre in wheat fractions
Sammanfattning : Dietary fibre is fermented in the colon to short-chain fatty acids (SCFAs), of which especially butyric and propionic acid may have health-promoting effects. One source of dietary fibre may be by-products from wheat, which are currently used as animal feed. LÄS MER
