  1. 31. Modification of flavonoid content and photosynthesis by ultraviolet-B radiation. Atrazine-tolerant and -sensitive ultivars of Brassica napus

    Författare :Louise Olsson; Biologiska institutionen; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; recovery; quercetin; photosynthesis; photoinhibition; photoacoustics; leaf anatomy; kaempferol; flavonoid; D1 protein; fluorescence; cold stress; carbon dioxide; atrazine tolerance; Brassica napus; UV-B; Physiological biophysics; Växtfysiologi;

    Sammanfattning : Levels of ultraviolet-B (UV-B, 280-320 nm) radiation reaching the Earth´s surface increase due to stratospheric ozone depletion. In this thesis the effect of enhanced UV-B radiation was studied on the atrazine-tolerant mutant Stallion, susceptible to photoinhibition, and the atrazine-sensitive cultivar Paroll of Brassica napus (oilseed rape). 2. 32. Xanthophyll Cycle in the Light of Thylakoid Membrane Lipids - Membrane Packing, Curvature Elastic Stress and Enzyme Binding

    Författare :Anna Szilagyi; Biokemi och Strukturbiologi; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; steroider; Lipids; steroids; membranes; Lipider; enzymologi; HPLC; laurdan; fluorescence spectroscopy; Proteins; enzymology; Proteiner; curvature elastic stress; enzyme binding; thylakoid membrane; membrane fluidity; lipid packing; histidine; VDE; zeaxanthin; xanthophyll cycle; mebran;

    Sammanfattning : The xanthophyll cycle involves the light-dependent and reversible conversion of violaxanthin to zeaxanthin. The enzyme, violaxanthin de-epoxidase (VDE) catalyses the conversion of violaxanthin to zeaxanthin, via the intermediate antheraxanthin. VDE is a membrane-hosted enzyme during its activity. LÄS MER

  3. 33. European ecosystems on a changing planet : Integrating climate change and land-use intensity data

    Författare :Jan Hendrik Blanke; Institutionen för naturgeografi och ekosystemvetenskap; []
    Nyckelord :LANTBRUKSVETENSKAPER; AGRICULTURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; LPJ-GUESS; land-use intensity; climate change; carbon; nitrogen; ecosystem functions; trade-offs; vegetation;

    Sammanfattning : Dynamic global vegetation models are mathematical models that provide a bottom-up description of plant communities. They explicitly model physiological and population-level processes such as growth, photosynthesis, carbon allocation, regeneration and mortality. LÄS MER

  4. 34. Stress-induced BVOC emissions from forests in Sweden

    Författare :Erica Jaakkola; BECC: Biodiversity and Ecosystem services in a Changing Climate; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Volatile organic compounds; Plant stress; Forests; Volatile emissions; spruce bark beetle infestations; ozone stress; wildfire recovery; Picea abies Norway spruce ; Betula pubescens ssp. czerepanovii; Pinus sylvestris Scots pine ; sweden;

    Sammanfattning : A changing climate is expected to lead to more extreme weather events, such as an increased frequency of droughts and forest fires. Changing forest conditions can offer benefits to species such as insects, including bark borers that thrive in warm conditions. LÄS MER

  5. 35. Bacterioplankton population dynamics in a changing ocean

    Författare :Markus V. Lindh; Jarone Pinhassi; Pierre Galand; Linnéuniversitetet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; marine microbiology; ecology; bacterioplankton; community composition; diversity; seasonality; biogeography; bimodal; metapopulation; community functioning; climate change; environmental disturbance;

    Sammanfattning : Bacterioplankton is characterized by high diversity, short generation times and rapid turnover. Despite their small size, these numerous microorganisms are a fundamental piece of aquatic ecosystems by channeling carbon to higher trophic levels through dissolved organic matter utilization.
