  1. 1. Biodiversity and Ecosystem Functioning : What Diversity? Which Functioning?

    Författare :Fabian Roger; Göteborgs universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Ecology; Biodiversity; Ecosystem functioning; Multifunctionality; Microbial Ecosystems;

    Sammanfattning : We share our planet with an estimated 8.7 million eukaryotic species and an uncountable number of bacteria and archaea. But that amazing diversity is under threat from overexploitation, habitat destruction and climate change. This realization has lead ecologists to study the consequences of species loss. LÄS MER

  2. 2. Community Robustness Analysis : Theoretical Approaches to Identifying Keystone Structures in Ecological Communities

    Författare :Sofia Berg; Tomas Jonsson; Bo Ebenman; Daniel Stouffer; Linköpings universitet; []
    Nyckelord :;

    Sammanfattning : Most of the world’s ecosystems suffer from stress caused by human activities such as habitat destruction, fragmentation, overexploitation of species and climate change. These factors affect the reproduction and/or survival of individual species as well as interactions between species in ecological communities. LÄS MER

  3. 3. Bacterioplankton population dynamics in a changing ocean

    Författare :Markus V. Lindh; Jarone Pinhassi; Pierre Galand; Linnéuniversitetet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; marine microbiology; ecology; bacterioplankton; community composition; diversity; seasonality; biogeography; bimodal; metapopulation; community functioning; climate change; environmental disturbance;

    Sammanfattning : Bacterioplankton is characterized by high diversity, short generation times and rapid turnover. Despite their small size, these numerous microorganisms are a fundamental piece of aquatic ecosystems by channeling carbon to higher trophic levels through dissolved organic matter utilization.
