  1. 1. Signs of Acquiring Bimodal Bilingualism Differently : A Longitudinal Case Study of Mediating a Deaf and a Hearing Twin in a Deaf Family

    Författare :Emelie Cramér-Wolrath; Lise Roll-Pettersson; Eva Heimdahl-Mattson; Carin Roos; Marilyn Sass-Lehrer; Stockholms universitet; []
    Nyckelord :SOCIAL SCIENCES; SAMHÄLLSVETENSKAP; SAMHÄLLSVETENSKAP; SOCIAL SCIENCES; bimodal bilingual acquisition; Swedish Sign Language; spoken Swedish; case study; longitudinal; sociocultural; mediation; interactional; twins; different hearing statuses; cochlear implant; tillägnande av bimodal bilingualitet; tvåspråkighet; svenskt teckenspråk; talad svenska; fallstudie; longitudinell; sociokulturell; mediering; interaktion; tvilling; hörselstatus; cochlea implantat; specialpedagogik; Special Education;

    Sammanfattning : This dissertation based on a case study explores the acquisition and the guidance of Swedish Sign Language and spoken Swedish over a span of seven years. Interactions between a pair of fraternal twins, one deaf and one hearing, and their Deaf[1] family were video-observed within the home setting. LÄS MER

  2. 2. Attention capture by sudden and unexpected changes : a multisensory perspective

    Författare :Erik Marsja; Jessica K. Ljungberg; Gregory Neely; Patrik Hansson; François Vachon; Umeå universitet; []
    Nyckelord :SOCIAL SCIENCES; SAMHÄLLSVETENSKAP; SAMHÄLLSVETENSKAP; SOCIAL SCIENCES; Attention Capture; Tactile; Auditory; Visual; Crossmodal; Bimodal; Distraction; Short-term memory; Attention; Psychology; psykologi;

    Sammanfattning : The main focus for this thesis was cross-modal attention capture by sudden and unexpected sounds and vibrations, known as deviants, presented in a stream the same to-be-ignored stimulus. More specifically, the thesis takes a multisensory perspective and examines the possible similarities and differences in how deviant vibrations and sounds affect visual task performance (Study I), and whether the deviant and standard stimuli have to be presented within the same modality to capture attention away from visual tasks (Study II). 3. 3. Allopregnanolone and mood : studies of postmenopausal women during treatment with progesterone

    Författare :Lotta Andréen; Torbjörn Bäckström; Viveca Odlind; Umeå universitet; []
    Nyckelord :Obstetrics and gynaecology; Progesterone; Allopregnanolone; GABA; mood; bimodal; Obstetrik och kvinnosjukdomar;

    Sammanfattning : Introduction. Allopregnanolone and pregnanolone (neuroactive metabolites of progesterone) act as positive modulators of the GABAA receptor system which is the major inhibitory system in CNS. Contradictory results on the effect of GABAA receptor modulators are reported. LÄS MER

  4. 4. Crosslinking of Polymers. Molecular Structure and Properties of Sol and Network

    Författare :Helena Andersson; Chalmers University of Technology; []
    Nyckelord :PDMS; long chain branchin; entanglement; crosslinking; contamination; network; bimodal; Silicone; polyethylene;

    Sammanfattning : Crosslinking is a well-known procedure for improving a variety of features of polymers, particularly the dimension stability at elevated temperatures. Crosslinking implies the formation of a network, the gel, but there is always a certain portion of the material, the sol, that remains non-crosslinked within the network. LÄS MER

  5. 5. Bacterioplankton population dynamics in a changing ocean

    Författare :Markus V. Lindh; Jarone Pinhassi; Pierre Galand; Linnéuniversitetet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; marine microbiology; ecology; bacterioplankton; community composition; diversity; seasonality; biogeography; bimodal; metapopulation; community functioning; climate change; environmental disturbance;

    Sammanfattning : Bacterioplankton is characterized by high diversity, short generation times and rapid turnover. Despite their small size, these numerous microorganisms are a fundamental piece of aquatic ecosystems by channeling carbon to higher trophic levels through dissolved organic matter utilization.
