    Sammanfattning : The overall aim of this work was to examine the effects of depleted nutritional status on some aspects of Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease (COPD).Morbidity. In paper І, we found that energy intake was lower than the calculated energy demand for all patients. LÄS MER

  3. 18. Treatment of atopic asthma in primary health care guided by exhaled nitric oxide measurement

    Författare :Jörgen Syk; Karolinska Institutet; Karolinska Institutet; []
    Nyckelord :;

    Sammanfattning : Aims: The overall aims of this thesis were to increase knowledge about how patients with asthma rate their health and investigate if we can improve asthma management, with focus on asthma as a chronic inflammatory disease, by use of measurement of the fraction of exhaled nitric oxide (FENO) in monitoring of asthma in primary health care. Methods: Study I included data from a public health questionnaire, which was sent to 8,200 persons (age > 18 years) randomly selected from the population register in Stockholm County. LÄS MER

    Sammanfattning : This thesis examines the developmental neurotoxic effects of exposure to low-dose ionizing radiation (IR), alone or together with xenobiotics, during a critical period of neonatal brain development in mice.During mammalian brain development there is a period called the brain growth spurt (BGS), which involves extensive growth and maturation of the brain.
