16. Programmed Cell Death in Xylem Development
Sammanfattning : Concerns about climate changes and scarcity of fossil fuels are rising. Hence wood is becoming an attractive source of renewable energy and raw material and these new dimensions have prompted increasing interest in wood formation in trees, in both the scientific community and wider public. 17. HIV-1 reverse transcriptase activity assays based on monoclonal antibodies to native enzyme : Applications on studies of antiviral substances and immunological variation of reverse transcriptase
Sammanfattning : Specific detection of HIV-1 reverse transcriptase (RT) activity in crude materials was enhanced using a capture assay for immunopurification and subsequent activity assay. The purification step was achieved by anti-HIV-1 RT monoclonal antibodies (Mabs) immobilized onto a solid carrier. LÄS MER
18. Development and Application of Proximity Assays for Proteome Analysis in Medicine
Sammanfattning : Along with proteins, a myriad of different molecular biomarkers, such as post-translational modifications and autoantibodies, could be used in an attempt to improve disease detection and progression. In this thesis, I build on several iterations of the proximity ligation assay to develop and apply new adaptable methods to facilitate detection of proteins, autoantibodies and post-translational modifications. 19. Thiopurine S-methyltransferase - characterization of variants and ligand binding
Sammanfattning : Thiopurine S-methyltransferase (TPMT) belongs to the Class I S-adenosylmethionine-dependent methyltransferase (SAM-MT) super family of structurally related proteins. Common to the members of this large protein family is the catalysis of methylation reactions using S-adenosylmethionine (SAM) as a methyl group donor, although SAM-MTs act on a wide range of different substrates and carry out numerous biologically important functions. 20. Development of sensitive cellular assay systems and their application to the identification of "orphan" seven-transmembrane receptors
Sammanfattning : Seven-transmembrane, G-protein coupled receptors play a central role in physiology since they facilitate cell communication in multicellular organisms by recognition of a broad range of ligands. They also represent important drug targets. LÄS MER
