11. Defects and Surfaces and their Impact on Fatigue Behaviour of Powder Bed Fused Ti-6Al-4V : Characteristics and Modelling
Sammanfattning : Additive manufacturing (AM), of metals is gaining popularity as an alternative to conventional manufacturing techniques such as casting and forging. Metal-AM allows for the production of complex part geometries with reduced material waste and shorter lead times. LÄS MER
12. Macro-Geometric Defects, A numerical and experimental study of springback and surface defects
Sammanfattning : Today, shortened lead-times in the automotive industry have dramatically increased the need for more efficient development methods at every stage of the process development chain. In order to decrease the long lead-time for producing a forming tool, sheet-metal-forming simulation was introduced. LÄS MER
13. Fatigue Assessment of Cast Components : Influence of Cast Defects
Sammanfattning : This thesis is on the fatigue assessment of cast components with special attention to defects. The primary material in view is nodular cast iron, but also cast steel is considered. However, the fatigue behaviour is in principle valid for general use on other cast metals. LÄS MER
14. The effect of microstructural features, defects and surface quality on the fatigue performance in Al-Si-Mg Cast alloys
Sammanfattning : Global warming is driving industry to manufacture lighter components to reduce carbon dioxide (CO2) emissions. Promising candidates for achieving this are aluminium-silicon (Al-Si) cast alloys, which offer a high weight-to-strength ratio, excellent corrosion resistance, and good castability. LÄS MER
15. Sutures bridging nerve defects
Sammanfattning : A new and simple method for the repair of nerve defects, in which sutures alone are used to guide regeneration between the nerve endings, was developed. Bilateral seven to 17 mm rat sciatic nerve defects were bridged by continuous longitudinal sutures with or without different modifications, by conventional autologous nerve grafts or direct repair under tension as controls.
