  1. 21. New perspectives on cognitive dissonance theory

    Författare :Sebastian Cancino Montecinos; Torun Lindholm; Fredrik Björklund; Roland Deutsch; Stockholms universitet; []
    Nyckelord :SAMHÄLLSVETENSKAP; SOCIAL SCIENCES; Cognitive dissonance theory; Attitude change; Dissonance reduction; Emotion regulation; Mental representations; Psychology; psykologi;

    Sammanfattning : Cognitive consistency is generally considered a fundamental aspect of the human mind, and cognitive dissonance theory is the most famous and studies theory within this framework. Dissonance theory holds that when related cognitions are in conflict (e.g. when behaving counter to one’s attitudes), people will experience negative affect. LÄS MER

  2. 22. The aging brain and changes in cognitive performance : Findings from morphometry and quantitative susceptibility mapping of iron

    Författare :Ninni Persson; Håkan Fischser; Kristine B. Walhovd; Stockholms universitet; []
    Nyckelord :SAMHÄLLSVETENSKAP; SOCIAL SCIENCES; brain aging; volumes; ndividual differences; QSM; cognitive aging; iron; episodic memory; fluid-; crystalized abilities; sex differences; gender differences; Psychology; psykologi;

    Sammanfattning : Brain aging is a heterogeneous phenomenon, and this thesis illustrates how the course of aging can vary within individuals over time and between individuals as a function of age, sex, and genetic variability. We used two contrasts from magnetic resonance imaging (MRI), namely spin-lattice T1-weighted imaging, and quantitative susceptibility mapping (QSM) from gradient-echo images, to picture the aging brain, by means of morphometric measures and brain-iron concentrations. 3. 23. Medication-related problems and psychotropic drug use in vulnerable older populations : a focus on acute hospital admissions and cognitive impairment

    Författare :Jonas Kindstedt; Maria Gustafsson; Hugo Lövheim; Eva-Lotta Glader; Staffan Hägg; Umeå universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; older people; cognitive impairment; medication-related problems; psychotropic drugs; Clinical Pharmacology; klinisk farmakologi;

    Sammanfattning : The ageing process involves several physiological changes that affect both pharmacodynamics and pharmacokinetics and that, in combination with a heavier disease burden and more extensive use of medicines, put older people at higher risk of medication-related problems and associated clinical outcomes. The older population is often treated as a homogenous group, when in fact there are factors that render certain individuals more vulnerable to adverse drug effects and other types of medication-related problems. 4. 24. Ambiguity at work : lexical blends in an American English web news context

    Författare :Daniel Kjellander; Marlene Johansson Falck; Maria Rosenberg; Suzanne Kemmer; Umeå universitet; []

    Sammanfattning : The present study investigates the word formation process of lexical blending in the context of written US web news between January 2010–March 2018. The study has two interrelated aims. First, it aims to develop a transparent, rigid, and replicable method of data collection. LÄS MER

  5. 25. Contours of Cognition

    Författare :Trond A. Tjøstheim; Kognitiv modellering; []
    Nyckelord :SAMHÄLLSVETENSKAP; SOCIAL SCIENCES; computational; cognitive; neuroscience; perception; memory; spatial cognition; trust; pupil dynamics; reflection; thinking; intelligence; reinforcement learning; foraging; allostasis; decision making;

    Sammanfattning : This thesis concerns the nature of cognition. It posits that cognitive processes primarily are means to maintain allostasis in organisms whose ecological niches require movement to approach food-resources and avoid predation. LÄS MER
