  1. 1. Microstructure of Nickel-Chromium Superalloys

    Författare :Mattias Thuvander; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; segregation; TEM; nickel alloy; grain boundary; APFIM; SIMS; carbide; precipitation; ordering; boride;

    Sammanfattning : The microstructure of nickel-chromium superalloys has been investigated using several advanced microanalytical techniques; atom probe field ion microscopy (APFIM), transmission electron microscopy (TEM) together with energy dispersive X-ray analysis (EDX) and electron energy loss spectroscopy (EELS), secondary ion mass spectroscopy (SIMS) and optical microscopy (OM). The features primarily considered include precipitation, segregation and ordering. LÄS MER

  2. 2. Corrosion and Surface Studies of Stainless Steel and Chromium Carbide Thin-Films

    Författare :Jonas Högström; Leif Nyholm; Kristina Edström; Patrik Schmutz; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; corrosion; electrochemistry; thin film; stainless steel; passive film; chromium carbide; carbon oxidation; surface; depth profile; XPS; SEM; EQCM; sputtering;

    Sammanfattning : Although the passive films that form on stainless steels have been extensively studied, the concentration depth profiles are not fully understood. Their thinness makes passive films hard to study, but angle-resolved X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (ARXPS) is a non-destructive technique that can be used to obtain depth information. LÄS MER

  3. 3. Modeling the Microstructure Evolution During and After Hot Working in Martensitic Steel

    Författare :Nima Safara Nosar; John Ågren; Göran Engberg; Hans-Olof Andrén; KTH; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Modeling; Martensitic steel; Carbides; Carbide size distribution; Carbide volume fraction; Carbide shape factor; Modellering; Martensitiskt stål; karbider; karbidstorleksfördelning; karbidvolymfraktion; karbidformfaktor; Teknisk materialvetenskap; Materials Science and Engineering;

    Sammanfattning : In this study, the goal is to predict the microstructure evolution during and after the hot working of a martensitic stainless steel with 13% chromium using a physically-based model in the form of a MATLAB toolbox. This model is based on dislocation density theory and consists of coupled sets of evolution equations for dislocation, vacancies, recovery, recrystallization, and grain growth. LÄS MER

  4. 4. Chromium martensitic hot-work tool steels : damage, performance and microstructure

    Författare :Johnny Sjöström; Jens Bergström; Farhad Rezai-Aria; Karlstads universitet; []
    Nyckelord :Hot-work tool steel; thermal fatigue; microstructure; Materialteknik; Materials Engineering;

    Sammanfattning : Chromium martensitic hot-work tool steel (AISI H13) is commonly used as die material in hot forming techniques such as die casting, hot rolling, extrusion and hot forging. They are developed to endure the severe conditions by high mechanical properties attained by a complex microstructure. LÄS MER

  5. 5. High Resolution Microanalysis of Creep Resistant 9-12% Chromium Steels

    Författare :Lars Lundin; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; martensitic stainless steel; TEM; modified 12% chromium steel; creep resistant; atom-probe field-ion microscopy;

    Sammanfattning : This thesis deals with detailed studies of the microstructure of 9-12% chromium steels. Three alloys with improved creep resistance have been studied in different stages of heat treatment and after creep testing. Two of them were manufactured using PM/HIP and were of the type 10. LÄS MER
