  1. 1. High temperature corrosion in a biomass-fired power boiler : Reducing furnace wall corrosion in a waste wood-fired power plant with advanced steam data

    Författare :Yousef Alipour; Pamela Henderson; Peter Szalalos; Christofer Leygraf; Jan Froitzheim; KTH; []
    Nyckelord :ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; High temperature corrosion; Waterwalls; Power plant corrosion; NOx reducing enviroments; Biomass; Waste wood; Thermodynamic calculation modelling; corrosion-resistance alloy; Furnace wall corrosion; Högtemperaturekorrosion; Eldstadsväggar; kraftverks korrosion; låg Nox mijöer; biomassa; returträ; Termodynamisk modellering; korrosionsbeständighet legering; eldstadskorrosion;

    Sammanfattning : The use of waste (or recycled) wood as a fuel in heat and power stations is becoming more widespread in Sweden (and Europe), because it is CO2 neutral with a lower cost than forest fuel. However, it is a heterogeneous fuel with a high amount of chlorine, alkali and heavy metals which causes more corrosion than fossil fuels or forest fuel. LÄS MER

  2. 2. Furnace Wall Corrosion in a Wood-fired Boiler

    Sammanfattning : The use of renewable wood-based fuel has been increasing in the last few decades because it is said to be carbon neutral. However, wood-based fuel, and especially used wood (also known as recycled wood or waste wood), is more corrosive than virgin wood (forest fuel), because of higher amounts of chlorine and heavy metals. Sammanfattning : This thesis describes technical and scientific aspects of new types of composite films/coatings for corrosion protection of carbon steel, composite films with nanometer thickness consisting of mussel adhesive protein (Mefp‐1) and ceria nanoparticles, and polymeric composite coatings with micrometre thickness consisting of conducting polymer and ceria nanoparticles in a UV‐curing polyester acrylate (PEA) resin.The influence of microstructure on corrosion behaviour was studied for a Fe‐Cr‐V‐N alloy containing micro‐sized nitrides with different chemical composition spread in martensitic alloy matrix. Sammanfattning : Copper (Cu) has been utilised by humans for millenniums and has become an indispensable metal in modern industry and in our infrastructure. However, corrosion, as a natural process for metallic materials, takes place on copper surfaces in most environments. LÄS MER

  5. 5. Corrosion testing of heat exchanger tubing

    Författare :Ulf Kivisäkk; KTH; []
    Nyckelord :corrosion testing; heat exchanger; stainless steels; general corrosion; immersion testing; activation; stress corrosion cracking; constant load; u-bends; relaxation; dewpoint corrosion;

    Sammanfattning : Heat exchanger tubes are commonly made from stainless steel.In a heat exchanger both the process fluid and the cooling orheating media can be corrosive. It is therefore important to beable to select materials that do not suffer from corrosion.Current methods in this area, however, suffer from limitationsand shortcomings. LÄS MER
