  1. 1. Unravelling Mechanistic Insights of Eukaryotic Transcriptional Control

    Författare :Johanna Hörberg; Göteborgs universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Transcriptional control; Gene expression regulation; DNA supercoiling; DNA methylation; DNA-protein recognition; Basic-Leucine-Zipper transcription factors; Basic-Helix-Loop-Helix transcription factors; Sequence specific DNA plasticity; Transcription factor cooperativity; Cancer; Molecular modelling; Molecular dynamics;

    Sammanfattning : DNA transcription involves the association of multiple proteins with DNA to convert the genetic information into messenger-RNA transcripts, which later will be translated into proteins. Con-trolled regulation of transcription is imperative for preserving the healthy and homeostatic state of cells. LÄS MER

  2. 2. Transcription factor effects on chromatin organisation and gene regulation

    Författare :Per-Henrik Holmqvist; Karolinska Institutet; Karolinska Institutet; []
    Nyckelord :Chromatin; enhanceosome; MMTV; GR; NF1; Oct1; FoxA;

    Sammanfattning : The intranuclear DNA of all eukaryotic cells is packed into chromatin, generating a repressive environment for the genome. Remodelling of the local chromatin structure is a vital process that allows access to the obscured DNA sequence and may induce the expression of specific genes. LÄS MER

  3. 3. Studies of induced transcription in response to an activated Ha-ras, TPA and UV radiation in keratinocytes

    Författare :Mats Nilsson; Karolinska Institutet; Karolinska Institutet; []
    Nyckelord :keratinocytes; Ha-ras; ultraviolet radiation; transcription factor; TPA; NF-kB;

    Sammanfattning : The mutational activation of the Ha-ras gene in keratinocytes has been shown to occur during the initiation step in the mouse skin model for multistage carcinogenesis. Skin tumor promoters such as 12-O-tetradecanoylphorbol-13-acetate (TPA) and ultraviolet radiation (UVR) stimulate a selective outgrowth of initiated keratinocytes to form benign tumours (papillomas). 4. 4. Transcriptional activation by Sp1 and the adenovirus E1A transactivator protein

    Författare :Anne-Christine Ström; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Biochemistry; Biokemi; Biochemistry; Biokemi; Medical Virology; medicinsk virologi;

    Sammanfattning : Transcription is a key step in the regulation of gene expression. Activation of transcriptionrequires that the RNA polymerase receive both, regulatory signals from transcription factors,and initiate transcription at the correct location in the genome, at the promoter. LÄS MER
