  1. 1. In vitro and in silico prediction of drug-drug interactions with transport proteins

    Författare :Gustav Ahlin; Per Artursson; Christel Bergström; Johan Karlsson; Jörg König; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Solute carrier; SLC transporter; OCT1; Organic cation transporter 1; SLC22A1; OATP1B1; SLCO1B1; Organic anion transporting peptide 1B1; Drug transport; Active transport; Genetic polymorphism; Cell lines; Gene expression; Multivariate data analysis; OPLS; Pharmaceutics; Galenisk farmaci; Biopharmacy; Biofarmaci; galenisk farmaci; Pharmaceutics; Biopharmaceutics; biofarmaci;

    Sammanfattning : Drug transport across cells and cell membranes in the human body is crucial for the pharmacological effect of drugs. Active transport governed by transport proteins plays an important role in this process. A vast number of transport proteins with a wide tissue distribution have been identified during the last 15 years. LÄS MER

  2. 2. Transcription factor effects on chromatin organisation and gene regulation

    Författare :Per-Henrik Holmqvist; Karolinska Institutet; Karolinska Institutet; []
    Nyckelord :Chromatin; enhanceosome; MMTV; GR; NF1; Oct1; FoxA;

    Sammanfattning : The intranuclear DNA of all eukaryotic cells is packed into chromatin, generating a repressive environment for the genome. Remodelling of the local chromatin structure is a vital process that allows access to the obscured DNA sequence and may induce the expression of specific genes. LÄS MER

  3. 3. Transport proteins in mammary epithelial cells : studies in murine (HC11) and bovine (BME-UV) cells - effects of prochloraz

    Författare :Yagmur Yagdiran; Sveriges lantbruksuniversitet; Sveriges lantbruksuniversitet; []
    Nyckelord :LANTBRUKSVETENSKAPER; AGRICULTURAL SCIENCES;

    Sammanfattning : Transporters localized in membranes of secreting mammary epithelial cells are involved in delivery of essential nutrients into milk. However, drugs and other xenobiotics may be substrates of these transporters and thus be actively secreted into milk, which may pose a health threat to breastfed infants and dairy consumers. LÄS MER

  4. 4. Role of POU/Oct transcription factors in Drosophila immunity

    Författare :Widad Dantoft; Ylva Engström; Anne Uv; Stockholms universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Antimicrobial peptides; Drosophila; host-pathogen interaction; immune gene expression; immune signaling; NF-kB; microbiota; POU Oct transcription factors; protein degradation; stress response; transcriptional regulation; Molecular Biology; molekylärbiologi;

    Sammanfattning : In response to infection, Drosophila melanogaster relies on the ability to mount a robust and potent innate immune response, characterized by induction of cellular and humoral processes. While rapid immune induction is of utmost importance, it is equally important to restrict and repress immune gene expression, where and when it is not needed. LÄS MER

  5. 5. Monoamine transporters in female human reproduction

    Författare :Barbara Bottalico; Lund Obstetrik och gynekologi; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; PMAT; VMAT2; OCT; NET; in-situ hybridization histochemistry; decidualization; human endometrium; placenta; Medicine human and vertebrates ; Monoamine transporters; preeclampsia; histamine; Medicin människa och djur ;

    Sammanfattning : The present study explored the gene and protein expression of the monoamine transporters in human endometrium throughout the menstrual cycle, in early decidua and in placentas from normal as well as preeclamptic pregnancies using in-situ hybridization, real time-PCR, immunohistochemistry and primary tissue cultures. Four distinguishable patterns were observed in the endometrium over the menstrual cycle: (1) epithelial expression of norepinephrine transporter (NET) mRNA, (2) Stromal co- expression of vesicular monoamine transporter 2 (VMAT2) and plasma membrane monoamine transporter (PMAT) mRNAs with maximal intensity in the proliferative phase; (3) increasing epithelial expression of VMAT2 mRNA with a maximum in the late secretory phase; (4) stromal expression of extra-neuronal monoamine transporter (EMT) mRNA with a peak in the early secretory phase.
