36. Glioblastoma multiforme in the microscope: Diagnostic features of importance for prognosis and treatment
Sammanfattning : Glioblastoma multiforme (GBM) is the most malignant and also the most common form of brain tumour in humans. The overall aim of this thesis was to investigate morphological and diagnostics features in human GBM that may be of importance for prognosis and treatment. LÄS MER
37. Studies of cytotoxic T lymphocytes and natural killer cells in relation to MHC class I presented peptides
Sammanfattning : In the defense against disease it is essential for the immune system to be able to discriminate self/normal from non-self/abnormal. This key feature of the immune system relies on the presentation of antigens by MHC class I and class II molecules. LÄS MER
38. Induction of t-cell responses against PSA by plasmid DNA immunization
Sammanfattning : This thesis is focused on using plasmid DNA encoding human prostate-specific antigen (PSA) for immunotherapy of prostate cancer. PSA is a secreted serine protease, which is produced almost exclusively by prostate epithelial cells. LÄS MER
39. T cells in Autoimmunity: studies on murine type II collagen-induced arthritis
Sammanfattning : Collagen-induced arthritis (CIA) is a mouse model for rheumatoid arthritis, in which autoimmunity is induced by immunization with type II collagen (CII), a cartilage-specific protein. In the present work, alpha/beta T cells were shown to be required for CIA and for the production of anti-CII IgG antibodies, whereas gamma/delta T cells were neither necessary nor sufficient for development of CIA. 40. T lymphocyte and NK cell function in pulmonary inflammation in sarcoidosis
Sammanfattning : The focus of this thesis is on the role of T lymphocytes and Natural Killer cells in sarcoidosis, which is an inflammatory interstitial pulmonary disorder of unknown etiology. An accumulation of CD4+ T helper cells in the lungs is a characteristic feature of this disease. LÄS MER
