  1. 36. Glioblastoma multiforme in the microscope: Diagnostic features of importance for prognosis and treatment

    Författare :Annette Persson; Tumörmikromiljö; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; General pathology; cytogenetik; Genetik; Genetics; cytogenetics; Medicin människa och djur ; macrophages; adenoviral based gene-therapy proliferation activity; telomerase activity; immunohistochemistry; Medicine human and vertebrates ; cytotoxic T-lymphocytes; diagnostic features; prognosis; immuno-therapy; Glioblastoma multiforme; neuropathology; pathological anatomy; Patologi allmän ; patologisk anatomi;

    Sammanfattning : Glioblastoma multiforme (GBM) is the most malignant and also the most common form of brain tumour in humans. The overall aim of this thesis was to investigate morphological and diagnostics features in human GBM that may be of importance for prognosis and treatment. LÄS MER

  2. 37. Studies of cytotoxic T lymphocytes and natural killer cells in relation to MHC class I presented peptides

    Författare :Lars Franksson; Karolinska Institutet; Karolinska Institutet; []
    Nyckelord :T-cell; NK cell; MHC class I; peptide;

    Sammanfattning : In the defense against disease it is essential for the immune system to be able to discriminate self/normal from non-self/abnormal. This key feature of the immune system relies on the presentation of antigens by MHC class I and class II molecules. LÄS MER

  3. 38. Induction of t-cell responses against PSA by plasmid DNA immunization

    Författare :Maxim Pavlenko; Karolinska Institutet; Karolinska Institutet; []
    Nyckelord :Prostate-specific antigen; DNA vaccine; cytotoxic T lymphocytes;

    Sammanfattning : This thesis is focused on using plasmid DNA encoding human prostate-specific antigen (PSA) for immunotherapy of prostate cancer. PSA is a secreted serine protease, which is produced almost exclusively by prostate epithelial cells. LÄS MER

  4. 39. T cells in Autoimmunity: studies on murine type II collagen-induced arthritis

    Författare :Alexandre Corthay; Immunologi; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Immunologi; Autoimmunity T lymphocytes collagen-induced arthritis Glycosylation TCR; transplantation; serology; Immunology; serologi; Skeleton; muscle system; rheumatology locomotion; Skelett; muskelsystem; reumatologi;

    Sammanfattning : Collagen-induced arthritis (CIA) is a mouse model for rheumatoid arthritis, in which autoimmunity is induced by immunization with type II collagen (CII), a cartilage-specific protein. In the present work, alpha/beta T cells were shown to be required for CIA and for the production of anti-CII IgG antibodies, whereas gamma/delta T cells were neither necessary nor sufficient for development of CIA. 5. 40. T lymphocyte and NK cell function in pulmonary inflammation in sarcoidosis

    Författare :Kianoosh Katchar; Karolinska Institutet; Karolinska Institutet; []
    Nyckelord :T lymphocytes; cytokines; activation markers; chemokine receptors; T regulatory cells; sarcoidosis.;

    Sammanfattning : The focus of this thesis is on the role of T lymphocytes and Natural Killer cells in sarcoidosis, which is an inflammatory interstitial pulmonary disorder of unknown etiology. An accumulation of CD4+ T helper cells in the lungs is a characteristic feature of this disease. LÄS MER
