  1. 1. Antimicrobial Peptide Interactions with Phospholipid Membranes Effects of Peptide and Lipid Composition on Membrane Adsorption and Disruption

    Detta är en avhandling från Uppsala : Acta Universitatis Upsaliensis

    Författare :Adam A Strömstedt; Martin Malmsten; Georges Belfort; [2009]
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; antimicrobial; peptide; adsorption; liposome; membrane; melittin; cholesterol; tryptophan; phospholipid; bilayer; PHARMACY; FARMACI; Pharmaceutical Physical Chemistry; farmaceutisk fysikalisk kemi;

    Sammanfattning : The interactions between antimicrobial peptides and phospholipid membranes were investigated, in terms of lipid headgroup variations and the role of cholesterol, as well as peptide composition and structure. Also strategies for increasing proteolytic stability were evaluated. LÄS MER

  2. 2. Amphiphilic Peptide Interactions with Complex Biological Membranes Effect of peptide properties on antimicrobial and anti-inflammatory effects

    Detta är en avhandling från Uppsala : Acta Universitatis Upsaliensis

    Författare :Shalini Singh; Martin Malmsten; Per Hansson; Debora Berti; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; LPS; Antimicrobial; Peptide; Inflammation; Infections; Liposome; Binding; PEG; Farmaceutisk fysikalisk kemi; Pharmaceutical Physical Chemistry;

    Sammanfattning : With increasing problem of resistance development in bacteria against conventional antibiotics, as well as problems associated with diseases either triggered or enhanced by infection, there is an urgent need to identify new types of effective therapeutics for the treatment of infectious diseases and its consequences. Antimicrobial and anti-inflammatory peptides have attracted considerable interest as potential new antibiotics in this context. LÄS MER

  3. 3. Microgel Interactions with Peptides and Proteins Consequence of Peptide and Microgel Properties

    Detta är en avhandling från Uppsala : Acta Universitatis Upsaliensis

    Författare :Ronja Widenbring; Martin Malmsten; Per Hansson; Catherine Picart; [2015]
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Binding; Degradation; Enzyme; Gel; Hydrogel; Microgel; Peptide; Protein; Release; Pharmaceutical Physical Chemistry; Farmaceutisk fysikalisk kemi;

    Sammanfattning : Microgels are lightly cross-linked hydrogel particles in the sub-micrometer to micrometer size range with a capacity to drastically change their volume in response to changes in the external environment. Microgels have an ability to bind and store substances such as biomacromolecular drugs, notably proteins and peptides, and release them upon stimuli, making them potential candidates as drug delivery vehicles and functional biomaterials. 4. 4. Development of Peptide Binders Applied to Human CRP, Carbonic Anhydrase (II, IX) and Lysine Demethylase 1

    Detta är en avhandling från Uppsala : Acta Universitatis Upsaliensis

    Författare :Jie Yang; Jan Kihlberg; Morten Grötli; [2017]
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; polypeptide conjugates; molecular recognition; peptide cyclization; protein targets;

    Sammanfattning : In this thesis, a polypeptide binder concept is illustrated. By conjugation to a set of sixteen polypeptides, a small binding molecule can evolve into a polypeptide binder with increased affinity and selectivity. LÄS MER

  5. 5. Synthesis, conformational analysis, and biological evaluation of peptides from E. coli P pilus proteins

    Detta är en avhandling från Organic Chemistry, Lund University

    Författare :Katarina Flemmer Karlsson; [1997]
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; NMR spectroscopy; CD spectroscopy; peptide structure; ELISA; solid-phase peptide synthesis; peptide; P pili; chaperone; Organic chemistry; Organisk kemi;

    Sammanfattning : Many bacteria utilize hairlike protein appendages (pili) to attach themselves to mucosal cell surfaces in the host organism. The pilus is assembled from protein subunits synthesized inside the bacteria and transported to the outer cell wall for incorporation into the growing pilus. LÄS MER
