  1. 1. Gender differences in perinatal morbidity and long term consequences of preterm birth

    Författare :Emma Elsmén; Lund Pediatrik; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; morbidity; neonatal; gender; IL-1ra; salivary cortisol; blood pressure; circulatory; mortality; obstetrical complications; ventilatory twins;

    Sammanfattning : Newborn male infants have higher morbidity and mortality than female infants. Male fetal gender is associated with an overall increased risk of preterm birth and complications related to pregnancy are overrepresented in women carrying male fetuses. LÄS MER

  2. 2. Management of late term pregnancy

    Författare :Mårten Alkmark; Göteborgs universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Obstetrics; Induction of labor; Postterm pregnancy; Late-term pregnancy; Perinatal morbidity; Perinatal mortality; Cost-effectiveness;

    Sammanfattning : Background: The optimal time point to intervene and induce labour in women with a low-risk pregnancy, in order to decrease perinatal adverse outcome, is up for debate. Some advocate for induction of labour (IOL) at 41 gestational weeks (GW) and others for expectant management (EM) until 42 GW. LÄS MER

  3. 3. Perinatal Complications: Associations with Postpartum depressive symptoms and Neuroticism

    Författare :Patricia Eckerdal; Alkistis Skalkidou; Anna-Karin Wikström; Ulf Högberg; Linnea Karlsson; Christina Hultman; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; antenatal depression; ceasarean section; delivery complications; Edinburgh postnatal depression scale; EPDS; epidural analgesia; gestational diabetes mellitus; instrumental delivery; neonatal complications; neuroticism; obstetric complications; personality; perinatal complications; postpartum depression; postpartum haemorrhage; pregnancy complications; vacuum extraction; vaginal delivery; Obstetrik och gynekologi; Obstetrics and Gynaecology; Psychiatry; Psykiatri;

    Sammanfattning : Even though most pregnancies and deliveries are uncomplicated, still fifteen percent of all women in developed countries suffer pregnancy-related complications. The aim of this thesis was to explore the associations between perinatal complications and perinatal maternal health, with emphasis on postpartum depressive symptoms (PPDS) and neuroticism taking into account potential confounding or mediating factors such as history of depression, antenatal depressive symptoms and delivery experience. 4. 4. Cerebral Injury in Perinatal Asphyxia, epidemiological, clinical, neurophysiological and neuromatabolic investigations

    Författare :Kristina Thorngren-Jerneck; Lund Pediatrik; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; neuropsychology; neurophysiology; Neurologi; neuropsykologi; neurofysiologi; Neurology; Pediatri; Pediatrics; S100; EEG; CMRgl; cerebral glucose metabolism; FDG-PET; CP; infant; perinatal asphyxia; hypoxia-ischemia;

    Sammanfattning : Perinatal asphyxia with hypoxic ischemic encephalopathy (HIE) is the most important cause of perinatal mortality and cerebral palsy (CP) in infants born at term. The aim of the thesis was to investigate epidemiology of perinatal asphyxia, and to investigate early clinical neurological symptoms after perinatal asphyxia in relation to cerebral glucose metabolism (CMRgl) measured by 18-FDG-PET, neurophysiological function, some biochemical markers, also in relation to long-term outcome.
