  1. 1. FDG-PET in Cervical Cancer - Translational Studies

    Författare :Maria Bjurberg; Bröstcancer-genetik; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES;

    Sammanfattning : Cervical cancer is the second most common cancer in females. The treatment, based on clinical FIGO stage, carries a significant risk of side effects. FDG-PET enables non-invasive studies of glucose metabolism. Cancer cells show an increased glucose uptake and metabolism that can be visualised and further analysed. LÄS MER

  2. 2. Aggressive B-cell Lymphomas : Studies of Treatment, FDG-PET Evaluation and Prognostic Factors

    Författare :Magdalena Adde; Gunilla Enblad; Hans Hagberg; Anna Laurell; Tor Ekman; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Oncology; Onkologi; Oncology; Onkologi;

    Sammanfattning : To improve outcome in young, high-risk lymphoma patients, treatment was intensified, adding etoposide and rituximab to standard CHOP treatment. Granulocyte-colony stimulating factor (G-CSF) enabled treatment bi-weekly. Results were promising: overall (OS) and event-free survival (EFS) 79% and 60% respectively, median follow up 27 months. 3. 3. Optimising Radiotherapy in Rectal Cancer Patients

    Författare :Calin Radu; Bengt Glimelius; Åke Berglund; Lars Påhlman; Ragnar Hultborn; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Rectal cancer; locally advanced; radiotherapy; FDG-PET; peripheral boost; protons; quality-of-life; Oncology; Onkologi;

    Sammanfattning : Rectal cancer is the eight most common cancer diagnosis in Sweden in both men and women, with almost 2000 new cases per year. Radiotherapy, which is an important treatment modality for rectal cancer, has evolved during the past decades. LÄS MER

  4. 4. Cerebral Injury in Perinatal Asphyxia, epidemiological, clinical, neurophysiological and neuromatabolic investigations

    Författare :Kristina Thorngren-Jerneck; Lund Pediatrik; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; neuropsychology; neurophysiology; Neurologi; neuropsykologi; neurofysiologi; Neurology; Pediatri; Pediatrics; S100; EEG; CMRgl; cerebral glucose metabolism; FDG-PET; CP; infant; perinatal asphyxia; hypoxia-ischemia;

    Sammanfattning : Perinatal asphyxia with hypoxic ischemic encephalopathy (HIE) is the most important cause of perinatal mortality and cerebral palsy (CP) in infants born at term. The aim of the thesis was to investigate epidemiology of perinatal asphyxia, and to investigate early clinical neurological symptoms after perinatal asphyxia in relation to cerebral glucose metabolism (CMRgl) measured by 18-FDG-PET, neurophysiological function, some biochemical markers, also in relation to long-term outcome. 5. 5. Pharmacometrics to improve clinical benefit assessment in oncology

    Författare :Emilie Schindler; Lena E Friberg; Mats O Karlsson; Rik de Greef; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; nonlinear mixed effect models; NONMEM; pharmacokinetics; pharmacodynamics; VEGF; SLD; targeted therapies; IRT; FDG-PET; SUVmax; Farmaceutisk vetenskap; Pharmaceutical Science;

    Sammanfattning : The high attrition rate in oncology drug development calls for new approaches that would increase the understanding of drugs’ efficacy and safety profiles. This thesis focuses on the development of pharmacometric models to characterize and quantify the relationships between drug exposure, circulating and imaging biomarkers, adverse effects, overall survival (OS), and patient-reported outcomes (PROs).
