6. Mining DNA elements involved in targeting of chromatin modifiers
Sammanfattning : Background: In all higher organisms, the nuclear DNA is condensed into nucleosomes that consist of DNA wrapped around a core of highly conserved histone proteins. DNA bound to histones and other structural proteins form the chromatin. LÄS MER
7. Regulation of gene expression in fruit flies : how does it start, and will it be remembered?
Sammanfattning : One of the most distinctive features of eukaryotic chromosomes is the bundling of DNA together with functionally associated RNA and proteins in chromatin. This allows huge amounts of DNA to be packed inside the very tiny space of the nucleus, and alterations in the structure of chromatin enable access to the DNA for transcription (“reading” genes by production of RNA copies). 8. Global production management in newspaper production and distribution : coordination of products, processes and resources
Sammanfattning : This thesis covers an introduction to the present conditions for newspaper publishing, definitions and analyses of the processes of newspaper production and distribution, expected future developments with respect to products and production processes, and finally, conclusions regarding the need for global coordination of products, production and distribution.Primarily, the conditions in the Nordic countries have been analysed. 9. Foraging behaviour in benthivorous fish
Sammanfattning : The foraging ability of an organism is essential since it affects various traits, e.g. growth, reproduction effort, social status and, ultimately, fitness. LÄS MER
10. In silico tools in risk assessment : of industrial chemicals in general and non-dioxin-like PCBs in particular
Sammanfattning : Industrial chemicals in European Union produced or imported in volumes above 1 tonne annually, necessitate a registration within REACH. A common problem, concerning these chemicals, is deficient information and lack of data for assessing the hazards posed to human health and the environment. LÄS MER
