11. Detection of immunoglobulin heavy chain gene rearrangement with PCR for MRD analysis in lymphoproliferative disorders
Sammanfattning : Immunoglobulin heavy chain (IGH) gene rearrangement occurs during early B-lymphocyte differentiation, assembling the different IGH gene segments to a functional gene, which can serve as a marker for study of lineage association and detection of Minimal Residual Disease (MRD) in clonal diseases deriving from B-lymphocytes or their early differentiation stages. Use of a molecular marker for the leukemic cells could help improve treatment by monitoring therapeutic efficacy, predicting relapse, and identifying very small amounts of tumour cells contaminating autografts after purging or enrichment of stem cells. 13. Real-time PCR and its application for protein quantification
Sammanfattning : The ability to quantify specific DNA sequences with real-time PCR has increased the possibilities for sensitive DNA analysis enormously. This sensitive technique can in optimal conditions detect one DNA copy and has a large quantification range. LÄS MER
14. Gene expression profiling with real-time PCR
Sammanfattning : The sequence of the entire human genome is available today, and this information can be used to understand, characterize, and treat complex diseases such as cancer. Many cellular functions related to survival, growth and differentiation are reflected in the gene expression pattern, and the ability to quantify transcription levels of specific genes is, and always has been, central to research on gene function. 15. On ischemia/reperfusion injury and rejection in concordant xenotransplantation to the rat
Sammanfattning : Studies in concordant (without preformed antibodies) rodent xenotransplantation (transplantation between species) models have focused, to date, on immunological disparities. In allotransplantation (transplantation within species), there is evidence suggesting that early ischemic events may contribute to later rejection episodes and to the development of chronicrejection features.
