1. Kinetics Quality Assessment for real-time PCR
Sammanfattning : For proper DNA quantification by real-time PCR, compared samples should have similar PCR efficiencies. This assumption might not be always correct, as suggested by hundreds of publications dealing with PCR inhibition. LÄS MER

3. Human papillomavirus in recurrent respiratory papillomatosis, tonsillar and mobile tongue cancer
Sammanfattning : This thesis focuses on the effects of the human papillomavirus (HPV) in tonsillar cancer, mobile tongue cancer, and recurrent respiratory papillomatosis (RRP). The purpose was to characterize patients with RRP in northern Sweden in order to identify more care-intensive RRP patients and to describe the voice and quality of life aspects that follow RRP. 4. Development of molecular techniques for fungal diagnostic research
Sammanfattning : Fungi are present everywhere in indoor and outdoor environments. Many fungi are toxigenic or pathogenic that may cause various public health concerns. Rapid detection, quantification and characterization of fungi in living and working environments are essential for exposure risk assessment to safe guard public health. LÄS MER
5. Fatigue and Peripheral Muscle Dysfunction: Studies on Vitamin D Status, Muscle Metabolism and Systemic Inflammation in Patients with COPD : Aspects of COPD severity beyond FEV1 and exacerbations
Sammanfattning : BackgroundThe severity of Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease (COPD) is usually described in terms of forced expiratory volume in one second (FEV1) and number of exacerbations. However, COPD is a complex disease with different ways of expression, involving pulmonary symptoms, extra pulmonal manifestations and comorbidities, which altogether affect the patient by contributing to reduced functional capacity, increased shortness of breath, reduced health-related quality of life and increased mortality.
