  1. 1. Navigating in a landscape of practices : Healthcare students’ interprofessional collaboration and learning

    Författare :Tove Törnqvist; Pia Tingström; Madeleine Abrandt Dahlgren; Mattias Ekstedt; Annika Lindh Falk; Susanne Lindqvist; Linköpings universitet; []
    Nyckelord :SAMHÄLLSVETENSKAP; SOCIAL SCIENCES; Interprofessional education; Interprofessional learning; Observational studies; Focused ethnography; Video; Practice theory; Interprofessionell utbildning; Interprofessionellt lärande; Observationsstudier; Fokuserad etnografi; Video; Praktikteori;

    Sammanfattning : Scientific advances, along with better conditions for attaining healthy lifestyles, have had the result that more people live longer. On the flipside of this success, people are also living longer with diseases and are thus in need of more health care than before. This takes up available resources and the health care system must adapt accordingly. LÄS MER

  2. 2. Early diagnosis and treatment of prostate cancer : observational studies in the National Prostate Cancer Register of Sweden and the Västerbotten Intervention Project

    Författare :Benny Holmström; Pär Stattin; Håkan Jonsson; Mattias Johansson; Gunnar Aus; Umeå universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Prostate cancer; prostate-specific antigen; single nucleotide polymorphism; Urology and andrology; Urologi och andrologi; Urology; kirurgi; särskilt urologi;

    Sammanfattning : Prostate-specific antigen (PSA) testing has caused a steep increase in the incidence of prostate cancer, especially the incidence of localised low risk disease. In order to decrease the overdiagnosis accompanied by PSA testing, analysis of inherited genetic variants have been suggested as potential tools for clinical assessment of disease risk. LÄS MER

  3. 3. Methods for improving covariate balance in observational studies

    Författare :Philip Fowler; Xavier de Luna; Ingeborg Waernbaum; Martin Huber; Umeå universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; causal effect; coarsening; discretisation; proxy variables; register study; swedish social insurance agency; unobserved variables;

    Sammanfattning : This thesis contributes to the field of causal inference, where the main interest is to estimate the effect of a treatment on some outcome. At its core, causal inference is an exercise in controlling for imbalance (differences) in covariate distributions between the treated and the controls, as such imbalances otherwise can bias estimates of causal effects. 4. 4. Particle emissions from car brakes : The influence of contact conditions on the pad-to-rotor interface

    Författare :Mattia Alemani; Ulf Olofsson; Jens Wahlström; Anders Söderberg; Staffan Jacobson; KTH; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Car brakes emissions; transition temperature; working conditions; environmental design; pin-on-disc; Bilbromsutsläpp; övergångstemperatur; arbetsförhållanden; miljödesign; pinne-på-skiva; Machine Design; Maskinkonstruktion;

    Sammanfattning : Due to their adverse health effects emissions have been regulated for over three decades. Brake wear particulate matter is the most important non-exhaust source, however current knowledge is mainly limited to observational studies. LÄS MER

  5. 5. Networks and Nodes : The Practices of Local Learning Centres

    Författare :Ulrik Lögdlund; Madeleine Abrandt Dahlgren; Staffan Larsson; Linköpings universitet; []
    Nyckelord :Learning Centres; adult education; videoconference; actor-networks; actors; networks; Lärcentra; vuxenutbildning; videokonferens aktörsnätverk; aktörer; nätverk; SOCIAL SCIENCES; SAMHÄLLSVETENSKAP;

    Sammanfattning : This thesis focuses on the practice of local learning centres in Sweden. The aim is to describe and to establish an understanding of relations and the actor-networks that surround the practice. The thesis is based on four different studies. LÄS MER
